Before i condemn this thing i wondered if anyone had any ideas that i havent thought of. I have an Asus T100TAF that was randomly (or atleast it seemed random) powering off, even if the power adapter was connected and there was life in the battery. I tested with a different power adapter and same thing so i thought it was likely to be the battery. It powered off and then wouldnt power back on which it never did before so i went ahead and ordered a new battery and installed it and still no life. The charge light is on but it never charges and just says the battery is empty. The screen does work as when the charger is plugged in it shows the battery icon for a few seconds as normal.

In short, 3 chargers, 2 battery, all same result. Is it a bad board/power circuit? Does anyone know if there are certain places on the board i can check for power with a multimeter to confirm?

Annoyingly if i cant power on there is no way to retrieve data

Sure you can, pull it out and put in another computer. I would suggest booting with your favorite software cloning software and not from the computers installed software. (Personally, I'd use a live Linux distro to boot with - but that's just me.)

yep, you are correct, a soldered storage chip. It turns out it was a faulty replacement battery. After replacing the battery again and updating chipset drivers all appears to be well
