AV-Comparatives released March-June "Real World" test results

Max is rolling out BitDefender to general beta today. Much better then the awful Vipre product.

Interesting that Panda is on top as of late. Wouldn't have expected that.

I installed it on a customers PC that I did a full virus/spyware cleanup on earlier today. I use techwaru and use about 35 different cleanup tools.

It found like 50 more infected files after I ran a scan.

Very impressed with it so far.

Also you can snooze the on demand scanning from dashboard and does it within a minute.

I'm surprised Panda is at the top.

In terms of BD with MAX, I'm deploying it to a test machine first before rolling it out to my customers. I want to be sure it's working properly first :D

I've got it running on my main system and from the client side it looks exactly like Bitdefender Endpoint Protection. So having it integrated into the MaxFocus dashboard is going to be totally awesome!

Considering BD is my go to AV, I was really excited when this was first announced. Can't wait to roll it out properly :D

The key words here are "going to be". I'm going to wait until they have their conversion routines for the policies up and running. I've spent a year building up the policies, I'm not going to just throw that away and start from scratch again - if I can avoid it anyway. We don't know what limitations there will be - I'm sure there will be some.

Despite the ratings, I've personally had very good experience with Vipre. Ratings are nice, but what matters is whether my customers are getting infected, and they haven't been. I'm excited to be able to say we use an "industry leading" av engine in our offering, but in reality, I'm secretly hoping it will be at least as good as Vipre in practice.

I should note also that they are keeping the pricing the same, even though BD is costing them more. That was a big relief. I was steeling myself for having to raise my own prices to reflect the change. At least I don't have to do that now.

Really nice to see that Avast, Avira and AVG are all top tier
at least in terms of residential level protection. I usually recommend
one of the three at random to the "which AV is best" folks.

It's funny to see M$ still down there in the basement, setting the example
for what a security/antivirus solution should NOT be.

You'll likely see lots of infections start getting reported once you rip out vipre and get BD installed. Even back when N-Able used Panda (which was their prior integrated AV...also very good)...when we took over clients from other IT peeps that used GFI, within a few days of the swap it was amusing to see how many infections lived on the computers when Vipre was on there. Seen this scenario a lot....a LOT!

I'm happy because it seems that BitDefender does a lot better at getting Malware and PUPs than Vipre. I have the GFI RC on a few systems and everything runs great so far! There are a few more built-in checks though, so looks like the cost is slightly more.

I'll definitely get back to you on that. As I said, I'm going to wait for the dust to settle before I convert anyone. It will be an interesting statistic to see what is picked up in the initial scans after conversion.

We have sold and recommended Sophos for years but it never seems to come up well in these tests, does anyone else use it or have an opinion?
