AV-Comparatives released Sept 2015 Real World test results

Reminds me of a comment one of the engineers at my largest clients made a few years back when they needed to renew their AV license. "That Russian shi* is pretty good though, huh?"

I wonder what the difference is between bitdefender and emsisoft is. Emsisoft is still using the bitdefender definitions right? Perhaps just bitdefenders AVC making the difference? I'll send emsisoft an email to inquire.

I havent used panda in a while but looking at the results you can really tell its not from great virus definitions but rather some sort of file property/behavior system.

Yeah they are still using the Bitdefender definitions which is why it should be up there as well. My question is are they submitting enough info to A/V Comparitives and how is the rate of their false positives? I have used Emsisoft a couple times and I really like the concept.

@ComputerRepairTech it is possibly due to heuristics or how they detect non-defined attacks. On their forum here is what they state:

We use all their on-demand file based technologies. We use our own technologies for everything else.

I asked BitDefender the same question when I found out F-Secure uses their engine. Their response was we have a better cloud, heuristics, sandboxing, etc.

This question has been around for a while and was asked in another forum in 2012: "the question is... when GData / Bullguard / F-Secure all use Bitdefender virus engine, why dont they all have identical detection ?"

We sell Kaspersky for home users and Sophos for Business users but these kind of tests make me wonder why we still use Sophos. Yes it has lots of additional features like device control and application control but very few customers use them. Anyone else sell Sophos and asking the same questions?

Wait when did f-secure start using bitdefender?

lol

Given that a lot of the world's malware also seems to come from Russia, it does make you wonder ...

I mean, I'm sure there are lots of Russian good-guys out there, but don't you just feel sometimes like we might be paying 'the mob' to protect our stuff instead of the police.

Well... is there any good Korean or Chinese Antivirus out there?

Yes Panda and Kaspersky both are at 100%, but Panda has 5% false positive and Kaspersky has 0%.

Looking back at the prevous tests Panda is always at 100% and with 1% or more false positives. Kaspersky is always above 98/99% and 0% of false positives.

I don't really know which percentage is more important, but the constant reporting of false positives bugs me.

I've been using 360TS (Qihoo) for about the better part of a year now, and, I'm impressed with it's balance of blocking things vs. giving me the choice to allow/block, and, ease of restoring anything that might be blocked. Plus it has an array of tools similar to CCleaner, etc...

I used this for awhile but then got tired of False Postives, especially flagging out QuickBook files.
