[SOLVED] Best Dell OptiPlex for Cheap Gaming PC?

Got some 1050 Tis I'd like to place inside a Dell OptiPlex, but need something with at least or nearly 300 watts so I don't have to replace the PSU.

Want to build cheap gaming PCs to flip.

It appears that starting with 4th gen CPUs, they are 290 watts (265 in prior gen).

FYI - I've had 1050 Ti's in Optiplex 390s and a 3010 with one being a SFF using a 235 watt stock PS (if my memory serves me right). No issues on any of them. They really did a great job considering and no issues with power.

Any particular reason you want to use an OptiPlex? They really aren't designed for this. The power supplies are low wattage, proprietary and guaranteed won't have any 6-pin or 8-pin GPU connectors.

Not saying it can't work. But if you have a choice of model, why choose one that makes it difficult?

So my suggestion - Dell Precision T1700 or similar aged Precision model. The GPU enabled models came with a 365W PSU. The Precision line is very similar in design and build quality to OptiPlex.

Because ex-lease SFF desktops are plentiful and so cheap. Any with i5/i7 4th gen or higher are quite powerful.

I've seen 1050ti cards used in HP EliteDesk SFF with 240W PSUs. No issues at all.

Because they are cheap? Also, a 1050 and even a 1660 doesnt require a 6 pin, just the 75 watts from the PCIe slot.

I have found no games the 1050Ti couldn't play. It's just at what settings and frame rates the user is happy with.

I guess cheap is as good an answer as any.

PS.
I have a 1050ti and can confirm it handles most games fine so long as you are happy with Medium settings and stick to 1080 @ 60Hz.

If you want Max settings or to use 4k, 144Hz etc you need to look elsewhere.
