Solution: Dell replaced the motherboard and haven't had anymore issues. Works great.

----------------
Computer had blinking amber lights on the power button.
  • Replaced the CMOS battery.
  • Replaced the power supply with the same OEM one that I had on hand.
  • Worked, but Windows was hosed.
  • Replaced the HDD with an SSD.
  • Reinstalled Windows.
  • Worked great. Very fast.

Had a weird issue with the SD card that was in it. Would lock up the computer. SD card wouldn't work on my computer either, so it was tossed.

Customer had computer for a few weeks without any issues. Put a different SD card in it and left it in for a few days and then this happened and will not go away:

Service tag: B11P902

Warranty expired, but shows it can be extended to June 2022 for $108.

Not sure if this counts as a sort of pre-existing condition that would not be covered.

Looks like a panel failure.... has been reported before and the symptoms you pictured are similar (but usually inversed) for others with the same problem. Weird failure mode for an LCD, for sure... but seems to be a common issue with that model (Rounded corners, washed out, etc)

Thank you very much for this info. This sucks. The computer is so nice (6 core CPU, 12 GB RAM, SSD...).

Do you think Dell will fix it if I extend the warranty?

The computer still has 1 quick amber blink during startup. Not sure what that's about.

I would think the warranty would cover it, just make sure it's covering the hardware and isn't an "extended warranty" of sorts - where it covers only certain things like software or hard drives, etc. Might be a good ask for dell when you look to get that extended coverage.

On the phone with Dell now. The issue would have to have occurred after extending the warranty. Not sure how they'd have known when the issue occurred in the first place.

So, they sent me a link with instructions on how to go about getting them to fix it.

Worst case scenario it would be $200 max to replace the display. Maybe less. Plus this:

Never replaced an AIO display. Don't think I want to attempt to.

Customer agrees to send it into Dell for repairs.

$39 to send a prepaid shipping box, diagnose the computer, and send it back is a pretty good deal. Although the wait time is poopy 💩

@phaZed Yeah there are times when sending it in to the manufacturer can actually be cheaper than fixing it yourself if the part is expensive. I just did this with an ASUS laptop. Cheapest motherboard I could find online was $900 and ASUS told me they could fix it for $439 if I sent it in. I asked if I could just buy the motherboard and they said if I wanted to buy the board itself it was $699 lol. They couldn't give me a straight answer why it was actually cheaper for them to replace it vs. selling me the part, but I wasn't going to argue.

Dell quoted a motherboard replacement for $220. Apparently the display is fine. Just paid them to fix it. $220 to repair and that $59 to ship it and diagnose it = $279 to replace the motherboard.
