I noticed today on a client laptop an extension in Google Chrome that looks like a music note with lines to the left.
Its not listed in the extensions. Does anyone know what it is?
It appears to be some type of controller for Youtube.

TIA

Tried removing all the extensions from:

Go to %LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions

Go to %LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings

Reinstalled uBlock Origin and the Emsisoft extension, but opening Youtube in Chrome makes it reappear.

I hate how these update come out give a new feature that is barely mentioned and you aren't given any information on toggling it off incase you just prefer not to have such a function.

And people would be just as annoyed with a tab opening with release notes after the update. Can’t win.

As I have often said: Then just let it lie.

If I can find the on/off switch or (more likely) the show/hide switch I will throw it to reduce visual clutter. But if I can't, the button just never gets pressed.

I should use this more. Seems handy. Makes it easier to pause what I have playing in youtube. Plus don't have to switch tabs.

Often times after an initial update I get a one time window from many apps that give some info but I do know what you mean there and I will admit I am plenty guilty of just closing the one time window myself.

I was internally chuckling something to the effect of 'how do people get this sort of crap in their browsers?!', but, quickly played a Youtube video, and, ...saw 'it' there, as soon as the video plays. (It still does not show in actual browser extensions tab, however)

I henceforth declare it normal, it seeming to be just a quick access shortcut to play/pause, on videos... :)

From what I can see there is no longer a flag to disable it. You would have to modify the shortcut and add this parameter:
Code:
 --disable-features=GlobalMediaControls
