I have a windows 10 lenovo t570. It was having bsod errors. It has a mnve m.2 drive. It wasnt able to read the smart sata. So i think the ssd is bad. I swap it out and reinstalled windows. Everything is fine for a few hours. When i was sync outlook it had a bsod. Is there a way to view bsod like windows 7? i have looked into a few times but it seems to require regedits. There must be a better options.

Also i have checked the memory and run lenovo diagnostics and they come up fine. Thanks in advance everyone.

i tried who crashed also nothing there. It happens so infrequent also it is hard to now how to trigger it.
If it's random/intermittent, my guess would be memory, despite what the Lenovo diagnostic utility says. You could try triggering a BSOD by loading up the memory with HeavyLoad, or just swap the memory and wait to see if the issue returns.

BSODs are mostly due to failing memory. You say you checked memory. How? Try running Prime95 against it for a few hours. Better yet - Replace the memory and see if that resolves the issue.

(Pffft! @Moltuae is quicker than I - heh.....)

10 passes on memtest+

Event logs. Any BSOD should be in the event logs. and just like 7 you can tell Windows 10 to not reboot on BSOD so you can see the event. Win10 events are as verbose as the old school ones but they do have the number.

it had said something like could not write dumpfile in the logs. SOrry i forgot to mention i had looked there.

It's been my experience there is rarely anything in event viewer for BSOD's. Used to try to search based on date/time and usually all I see is the power on after the machine is hard powered down.

New development. After the SSD drive being in the computer for a few hours it is not reading smart data anymore. There was an error in the event log is the device has a bad block. Before this happened i could read the smart data. This error happened when i was running prime 95. Thanks in advance

does that make two drives failed?

I would ask what brand of NVMe drives are you using? Also, did you go into the bios and see what voltages for the NVMe drive is set to? It should not be over 1.25v.

Barring a bad MB, I would put a normal SSD drive in and replace the memory temporarily. Have you ran WinDbg against a minidump? If not, do that and attach the file here.

What is the brand/model of the SSD? What happens when you try a SATA vs M.2 type?

I am using a WD Blue SN500. I had tried a samsung evo 970 it would not recognize it.
.
There is no place to put a regular ssd without some sort of attachment. The t570 came with a nmve ssd and sits in the hard drive bay via ribbon adapter

I am just rerunning lenovo diagnostics for giggles before i go to breakfast with the family. It doesn't recognize the battery. It has got to be a bad board right?

Sounding more and more like it. You don't have anything else to test those NVME's in do you? For grins did you pull the RAM and clean the card edge with an eraser?

I did pull and reseat as that helps more than one would think but no never used a eraser.

NO other way to test nmve no. Rarely see them. They are popping up now but not a ton. I just order a couple types of m.2 adapter this week.
