c:\windows\temp - keeps filling up with cab files ...

I keep getting various clients whose temp folder keeps filling up with cab files and I'm not really sure why. I know that the cab files are left overs or pre-download of windows update files but I don't get why it keeps filling up even after clearing it out.

Running disk clean-up nets me a few GB of space back but after running CCleaner I have been able to remove upwards of 80GB of junk out of the temp directory. 80GB is obviously a ton, especially if you are on a 250GB SSD.

Is it happening because they are not installing updates so they just sit there waiting to be installed?

Any idea?

On Win7 rigs? The Windows 10 upgrade files.

There was a problem in windows 7 & 8 that caused this.
When a certain log file gets too big it starts causing this when windows tries to compress the log.
