Can I get my life back?

I wonder if the texts, emails, and ads will finally end after tomorrow? This has been the most frustrating and obnoxious political season I can recall. I'm an equal opportunity hater of all sides that have hijacked my phone, my computer, and my TV screen.

I feel better already just venting!

Same here. I voted for who I want already but I block texts from both sides and have from the beginning. It's disgusting how we've been bombarded with BS, especially since Biden dropped out.

In Australia all TV, radio, newspaper and other forms of political advertising stops 14 days out from the election. It is prohibited by law for any political party to advertise in that time.
Supposedly, here in the US, the texting is supposed to stop once your ballot has been accepted. I voted a week ago today and I'm still getting nothing but spam.

I voted last Saturday and the txt's are still trickling in. But they are intended to look like PSA's with links to vote.gov or ncsbe.gov

Ahh, the joys of living in a swing state. Luckily Verizon blocks most all of the political texts to my phone, but when I'm at my computer, I see all of them in the Your Phone app. I got 10 of them overnight last night. I don't mind the "get off your ass and vote!" ones, but the endless messages from both sides are just ridiculous. Not to mention the 4 or 5 mailers I get every day!

Yeah, I'm sick of my mailbox filling up, too. I'm not at home and haven't been all Summer. I go by once a month to pay rent and that's about it. But the manager usually shoots me a text to let me know when my mailbox is full and it ends up being twice a month. Nothing but junk and it irritates the snot out of me.

Yep. I think you aren't required to provide a phone number for registering to vote in NC. Just proof of address.
Our phone numbers are verified, when we get our paper ballots, so they are in the system somewhere. I registered online years ago and my phone number was required. If you go to DMV or MVD, I don't think they require your phone number. Whoever got it from me must be selling them everywhere, considering the amount of blocked numbers in my phone.

You guys are lucky in one regard.
You have the choice of voting or not voting as you see fit.
Here in Australia we don't have that choice. It's against the law to not vote.
I think the fine is like $150? or something.

They espouse that "it's our right to vote!" But why do we not have the right not to vote?

Sadly in some ways I think less people should vote but this is mostly as I look at US politics where it seems people just vote blindly to party lines but I wouldn't be shocked to see this is the case in other places.

Everyone should vote but you're right. People should have the right to decline voting, if they feel like it. Not having that right would be election interference, IMO. It's all about governmental control.

Can you quote "chapter and verse" on that one, because I'd love to know the reference.

Even if such a law is on the books, I can't figure out how it would be enforced or even those who wanted to honor it being able to do so. The only source for "ballot has been accepted" are one of the entities that are in charge of running elections and I can't believe they'd be allowed to make public who has already had their early voting ballot accepted.

Sorry but no, I can't. I read it in an article but it was a couple weeks ago and I didn't save it.

It's easily found in NC voter records. Mine below and only had to have first name and last name to search. Beyond that I'm not sure. It does show when I voted so, in theory, the next day they would have seen that I had voted as a public record. The canvassing part after having voted would be difficult to pursue enforcement. If nothing LEA are already flooded with petty complaints. So unless someone makes it patently obvious who the violator, if there is a regulation prohibiting canvassing after votes have been cast, You'd just get a "file a complaint on our online portal" response.

@Markverhyden

Interesting. All I can find in Virginia allows me to look at my own record, but not those of anyone else, which, to me, is appropriate. In my opinion it's nobody else's business whether any individual (other than themselves) has voted or not.

Here's the Virginia Citizens Portal: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation

The page for checking your own voter registration:

That's how it is in Arizona, too. I can only look up mine.
