I have a Sony VGN-CR420E Laptop.

The computer has a fresh install of OEM Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I cannot get the video driver to work.

It is an "Intel 965 mobile express chipset" driver

Hardware ID: VEN:8086 DEV:2A02

Vista knows what the device is but it cannot start (Code 12 not enough resources)

I attempted to let windows update the driver. (still says code 12)
I attempted to download the driver directly from Intel (said I need to download it from Sony)
I attempted to download the driver from Sony (installs but gives the same error code 12)
I used Driver Pack Solution and it doesn't recognize it.

I am at a loss any ideas?

had this before on a dell, or at least similar.
on dell's, lenovo's, and many other manufacturers, after you try to install their driver (in this case from windows update) you cannot install driver directly from intel as you will get a "download from manufacturer" error, although 99% of the time the intel driver was what you had to use to begin with.
So... install the manu's driver, let it error. go to Device manager, update driver, browse my computer. Now the key: Let me pick what driver to use!! Then, "Have Disk", point it to the extracted zip you downloaded from Intel, choose your driver and have a nice day!

Oh and if you try to "Search for driver in this location:" it will fail with the same error, so remember to "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"!
