CCTV Generic Phone App

Hi all,
Just wondering those who deal with cctv systems and apps for remote viewing by mobile device.

I have a client with an old POE cctv system. It's a system from Hikvision (before they re-branded and became Hikvision). Anyway it uses an app called TVRMobile. TVRMobile seems to have major issues with iPhones as it works with Android pretty flawlessly.

Is there a decent generic app that can be used to access the NVR remotely to view CCTV.

I tried using the Hikvision iVMS app, but get a device not supported message.

I've had good luck with NVMS7000, configured manually.
This appears to be a Hikvision app. Still get a device not supported error which is a shame because it's a nice easy app to use that would be good for the client.

How old is this system? I've never know Hikvision by any other name, as far as I can tell they have been called Hikvision since they were founded in 2001. If you could provide us with the model that would help.

I've had a few DVRs over the years that I would view with a different apps. Others not so much.

Looking at an app I see on the play store called TruVision TVRmobile, it looks identical to the Hikvision app. So I am assuming you have an NVR that the OEM is Hikvision. I've dealt with a few of these and sometimes they will work in the official Hikvision app and other times they will not. Some of these have their own firmware or tweaks done to make them incompatible. Others appear to literally just be stripped of Hikvision branding but otherwise identical.

Based on your post do you mean you have a Interlogix NVR that is prior to them using Hikvision as the OEM? It seems like they have customized their app to be compatible with their older NVRs. Best hope is to find out who actually made the NVR in question and see if the manufacturers app will work.

  • Older Interlogix recorder support: Also note that Navigator supports other models of Interlogix recorders than the TruVision Hikvision OEM line, such as the older GoVision line, GE/Kalatel DVMRe, or SymDec recorders, not possible using iVMS-4200 which supports only Hikvision recorders.

Thanks for your detailed reply.

Yes, the system appears to be TruVision TVN10.
I have tried using hikvisions iVMS4500 app but get an error message to the effect that the system is not compatible.

The TVRMobile app that is currently being used, shows a black screen with a message 'No Permission in the bottom right corner.

I can't seem to replicate the error from my mobile devices (although I only have Android devices) and it connects without issue.

Of particular interest though both the user and his wife (Both on iPhones) have the same issue.

I have looked through the NVR remotely but can not seem to find anything relating to permission settings etc.
