I got a text message from a clients employee saying they want to integrate copilot ASAP and at the risk of sounding dumb I said I'd have to look into it and figure out what it was. I explained that MS has 100's of services and I'm not about to pretend that I'm an expert in all of them.

This employee basically sits around all day screwing around on the internet finding ways to integrate things no one uses and make my job harder with requests of integrations i've never even heard of.

I now know that it is Microsofts chatGPT but ... where do I even integrate this thing? Is it a service I buy through their normal licensing through M365?

Will it just show up in a W11 computer that has Office installed as a button in the M365 apps after some update or something that you click and ask it a question or something?

Copilot is a code word for Microsoft shoving ChatGPT into all of the desktop Office apps. So you'll be able to ask Word to write a document for you, ask Excel to chart specific data, or ask Powerpoint to create a presentation for you.

All with human language, and all without barely touching a button. It's a HUGE deal, and while I'm sure the initial releases will be rocky, considering how much time ChatGPT already gives me back in my day this integration will no doubt bring even more value... especially since I'm copying and pasting into Word or Outlook anyway... after this goes live, it'll just be a feature in both applications.

Why are you listening to the demands of an employee? The owner is the one who makes financial decisions and adding new services is billable. So is researching new services. Stop giving away your time for free and people like that won’t take advantage of you with stupid requests. Especially when the employee can’t even tell the difference between a CONCEPT announcement and an actual product launch.

I simply presume that said employee is "the delegated authority" if someone is reacting this way in a case like this. If it's some random person in a cube, the reaction would likely be more muted.

Bosses, in my experience, tend to often be even more susceptible to "Ooooh, shiny" syndrome than their minions are.

Coming in very late here, but serious question, did you not see something like this as the main login screen? (this shot taken from Windows 10, but Windows 11 is essentially the same):

I have never seen a Windows User Account where all Sign-in options are not presented and where you can choose the one among those that you want (including biometrics/Windows Hello, if the machine has support for it).

Any Microsoft Account linked Windows 10 account had to be set up initially with a password, and a PIN is created afterward. At least under Home and Pro.

At least with a MS Account linked Windows user account you can use Microsoft's "forgot password" option to go through a password reset which should then propagate down to the machine provided it's got an active internet connection when you first login with the new password. You can set a new PIN afterward.
