Is there a decent all-in-one program used to test the different components of a system (memory, cpu, video, etc.) that is fairly complete. I find myself using a variety of different programs to test these components.

There are a few around but really, how reliable is the "cpu test" or the "mother board test"? What are they checking for. Maybe I'm not using them right but I'v e not found any of htem to fine anything particularly useful other than memory testers

I dont know I never have tried any of them but I did look into this one in regards to get prices and they are expensive but they boost that they are great haha. but I cant afford it at this point

I have tried ultra-x and it is not that much different than most free or cheaper utilities ... my boss bought a copy of it for our group 4 or so years ago and I rarely use it. I would say ubcd is more useful.

We use PC Doctor on every machine we 'touch' onsite. If possible we print off the report and give it to the customer. If not we leave a file on the Desktop of the system.

Just another way to kyac and affirm our professionalism. We have discovered several hardware issues that were not immediately apparent, including a bad hard drive in a brand new laptop.

(One guess where they bought it...)

My techs tell me that they can 'smell' more than PC Doctor tells them, and have proven it true, but customers appreciate the 'scientific' method of testing with 'tools.' It's all about "The Show."

Hi 1101doc, I was checking the website of PC Doctor, seems interesting, they have few different ones, which one do you use? As you mentioned you use PC Doctor on every machine how many licenses did you have to buy?

I use Hitachi's hard drive testing tool and sometimes other OEM ones depending on the drive. I use Memtest 86 to test the RAM.

Most hardware faults are fairly easy to spot though without any tools. I cannot justify spending more than about £280 which that program would cost.
