Connect the burner and restart the player in Windows Media player 11

A customer's system wasn't seeing his DVD drive and his CD burner the other day. I fixed it by clearing the upper and lower filters in the registry and the drives were again recognized by the computer. I also used Deep Burner for a quick test on the burner and it wrote data to the disc.

the customer is wanting to use Windows Media Player 11. It is telling him to "Connect the burner and restart the player." I found this on another forum and attempted this with him without success : RUN>Services.msc>Double click IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service>

I am about to have him roll back to a previous version anyway since he says he is happier with the earlier version. However I would like to find an answer to this. Any help would be appreciated.
