Probably not very practical but interesting nonetheless ...

String a few Galaxy S5s together and you can mine bitcoin

Samsung read the last e-waste report from Greenpeace too, and likely wasn't too happy about the slamming it got from the organization. Which leads us to the Korean electronics juggernaut's system for upcycling old phones. Specifically, the company rigged a bunch of them together and turned them into a bitcoin mining contraption.

OMG bitcoin is now over 10,000 CAD when will stop climbing i get a live price right from BTM in my store what is causing this to keep climbing up?.

Segwit2x Hard Fork looming is what everywhere online says. I do question that though, and might be only be part of it. If that were the case however, that would also not explain BCH rocketing. BCH has been making bigger grounds than bitcoin, and then most major altcoins have been struggling last little while.

Small correction just hit. I think we'll hit a ceiling for a little while, but I think we'll see it still being bullish before split.

what is causing this to keep climbing up?.
Initially it was fuelled by the forks I believe but then, on top of that, came the CME Group announcement:

https://www.coinspeaker.com/2017/10...or-cme-group-launch-bitcoin-futures-year-end/

http://markets.businessinsider.com/...shing-the-bitcoin-business-2017-10-1006311449

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...-fresh-record-after-cme-about-turn-on-futures

The announcement is seen by many as a major signal that indicates a move towards mainstream adoption.

Given the potential, the state of the global economy and the fact that mainstream adoption is only just beginning, personally I think $7K is very cheap. Assuming adoption continues at this exponential pace, I think the greatest gains are yet to come.

So far it seems Clif High was spot on with his October prediction (in his interview I posted a while ago) and, given all the recent positive news, it's looking like the predictions he made for the coming months may prove to be correct too.

So far i have prevented over $10,000 worth of fraud on my btm i keep a watch if i hear someone that sounds like east indain talking them through it , i ask them are you here to pay CRA in bitcoin those buggers must make huge amounts of cash a day if i stopped this in a very small city what are they doing world wide?.
The question is who do you report this to? is there a way to get there bitcoin address banned on an exchange?.

Nope. Decentralized system. Lots of ways around it. And just because something looks like an address in, won't result on the address out. If they were trying to cover tracks with a fair level of reliability, all they would have to do is send their coins through a tumbler.

And .....

hahahahahahahaha!!

JPMorgan busted for money laundering after accusing bitcoin of doing the same
Link: https://www.rt.com/business/410137-jpmorgan-busted-money-laundering-bitcoin/

These sort of hypocritical attacks on Bitcoin seem to be getting more common. I guess theses corrupt organisations and individuals are beginning to realise the threat that cryptocurrencies pose to their power.

Another recent example ...

This is what Saudi Prince Al-Waleed had to say in October:
https://www.coindesk.com/saudi-prince-al-waleed-bitcoin-going-implode/

One month later:

Edited to add, for those who haven't already seen it:

(Bear in mind this was before today's news about JPMorgan being busted for money laundering. Prior to that, it was only known that they had committed mortgage fraud, on a number of occasions.)

HELP!

Is it time to panic? I tried to send my hard earned Zcash to a Bittrex account so I could cash it out. About 4.3 coins worth $1,200. They've been stuck for over 48 hours with no confirmation. My Bittrex wallet shows a pending deposit and 0/20 confirmations. I did a couple of small transactions to test first and they were fine, confirmed in about 30 minutes.

Any ideas?

It's showing on the chain here (presently still unconfirmed):
https://zchain.online/tx/76ece4809268cd7ffc1f93a8714fca1bf6b7d4997b388c078682f4f842da600a

Your transaction fee (0.0001 ZEC) may be a bit low.

I'm no Zcash expert (I own some but haven't made many transfers with it) but, assuming it works like Bitcoin, there's nothing to worry about. With Bitcoin, if the fee is too low and the transaction doesn't get picked up my the miners as a result, the funds are eventually returned.

Some BTC wallets now allow you to increase the fee afterwards by using 'Child Pays For Parent'. I don't know whether it's possible to do that with a Zcash transaction.

Edited to add: Looks like ZEC is quite popular right now. Probably a lot of people buying, judging by the price spike. Over 400 unconfirmed transactions presently, according to this: https://minergate.com/blockchain/zec/transpool

At busy times transactions compete . The ones with the highest fees get processed first.

Thanks for finding all that info! Did you manually type in all the numbers and letters from my address on the screenshot?

Yeah, I was just trying to empty the wallet. zcash4mac didn't give me an help on that part, I just kept trying whatever amount I could put in that it would take.

Oh well, I guess I'll just wait a few more days, hopefully it will go through or get dropped. Being stuck kinda stinks.

Yeah, I just typed the destination address in.

I know, it's frustrating. Had a few BTC payments stuck like that previously. No way to cancel them or resend. As the technology evolves, I suspect we'll see more solutions like 'Child Pays for Parent', which is a pretty neat solution -- it enables you to send a small payment back to yourself, with higher fees, using the 'stuck' funds as an input. The higher fee puts the small 'child' transaction higher up the mining priority, but the miners are required to process the 'parent' transaction in order to process the child transaction. Presently it's all a bit clunky and confusing for the average user, but I suspect we'll see such mechanisms hidden under a simple 'increase transaction fee' button on apps in the near future.

Now you're scaring me. Are you saying you lost that BTC because you couldn't cancel or resend it?

I found this:
https://forum.z.cash/t/cancel-unconfirmed-transaction/18912/4

Seems like I could just setup a new wallet and import my private key to it. Since my transaction hasn't been confirmed it presumably wouldn't show up on the copy of the blockchain that gets downloaded.

Great.

I noticed the backlog had cleared earlier (down from 400+ to a more typical 40 or so).

Now you're scaring me. Are you saying you lost that BTC because you couldn't cancel or resend it?

No, I mean I just had to wait. They went through eventually. More recently, I've pushed stuck transactions through using the Child Pays For Parent method.

You should never lose any funds. In the worst case you may have to wait a long time for the funds to 'return'. Technically, they're not returning of course because, if the transaction was never added to the blockchain, the funds were never 'sent' (ie assigned to the receiving address). As I understand it, if the transaction never gets picked up by the network, you'd have to wait until the network 'drops' it, which could take several days. Once the transaction is no longer pending on the network, the funds should be available to send again.

All clear now! The funds are in the Bittrex account. Funny, I spent about 45 minutes today freaking out over this as it had been a long time. Made a few posts, etc. Took a shower. Came back working on the path of some kind of fix. Then BOOM, it started confirming, after 4 long days.
