I invested in some more cards. I'll soon have 16 GTX 1080 Ti in 4 rigs (4 rigs with 4 cards each). All the cards are hybrids meaning that have a water block and radiator pre-installed. That makes them a challenge for a frame. So tomorrow I'll be receiving this:

Inspired by this post https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/14376/220-mh-s-with-7x-1070s-inside-a-pc-case-photos-inside
Guy built a 7x 1070 rig with this case or the smaller X5 version. He hasn't posted there in a while and the thread is dead.

Nice. It certainly makes a neat looking compact unit. How will the cards be mounted? It looks like he fabricated something in the photos.

There is alot of money to be made in the crypto currency service market i can tell you first hand if there are no BTM machines in your area get in contact with a btm company and get one put in your store it makes constant revenue make sure you get a small percentage even though it looks small on paper it adds up fast.

Wanted to give a little update:

  • Invested awhile back in Ethereum, when it surged I sold it off and bought a scad of coins (NEM, STRAT, GNT, CVC, Sia, IOT...) with the profits.
  • Did the same thing a short time later (again with Ether, I'd also been mining some) and purchased a single Bitcoin with the profit (when it was ~$8000)
  • Just recently sold my mining machine off... used a lot of the parts to build my SO a proper gaming desktop which she's taken an interest in. Got out of mining because it was taking up space, didn't have time to check on it, didn't want to be invested in it for so long I couldn't sell the cards for much, etc. Fun little experiment though!
  • Last week sold off a number of altcoins to pay back some loans and the remainder we're looking to use to invest in our property value. Still have STRAT, bit of GNT, CVC, and Sia (which I woke up to a 113% increase, pretty decent on 2000 coins) plus the single BTC I'm holding.

Mark, I can't thank you enough for your advice getting me into this. Taking a measured approach and accepting the risk (more acceptable since I'm young), this has been a great help to us.

@Galdorf Do you mind sharing (or PM me) who you used for your machine? I've looked around a bit but a couple places I've looked are now out of business, vague info, etc. I'd be interested to know who you used, net profit per month, etc. if you would divulge. Again PM if you're uncomfortable posting here--and there isn't any overlap in our location.

So happy to hear it's working out for you!

Ain't it great when that happens! I've had a few like that now. I tend to just buy and 'hodl', and pretty much every coin I've invested in has risen in value, many of them quite significantly. Most recently I woke to see a rising Nexus (NXS), an investment I made several months ago when it was just 14 pence per coin (now around £10 per coin and rising). It seemed very undervalued at the time, given the limited supply and project potential, so I bought a few thousand coins.

I thought it looked neat and compact too until I saw it in the box this morning!

The guy who inspired this had 7 cards in his. I only want to get 4 hybrid cards in mine. It will take some modification, hopefully not too much. I'm busy today with other things so will have to wait to play with it.

Comments, constructive criticism or other suggestions welcome...

Played with the case tonight. I think I've arrived at an arrangement for the 4 cards. 3 will sit in the lower level of the case. The bracket will connect to the existing support bar. Will need to build about a 2 7/8" high support to hold the risers. In the pic you can see I've stacked several 3/4" square wooden dowels to test. Can't go any further without firing up the chop saw after midnight :D

The 4th card will sit on the motherboard tray next to the motherboard and screw down to the expansion slot cutouts. Need about 1/8" of support below the riser, maybe a piece of cardboard would do the trick (but would like a better material for permanent install)

Keep in mind that the GPU you see in the pics in just an old one I use for my rough draft. The actual GPUs are larger and have AIO water coolers attached. The radiators will mount to the top of the case.

That certainly is a roomy case!

Not bad for the price too (they seem to be available in the UK for around £120). Might consider buying one myself.

Looking forward to seeing the build progress.

Got it all put together (finally) tonight. Currently trying out Nicehash and it's going through it's initial optimization thing. Lots of room leftover. All the radiators mounted nicely to the roof of the case. The little platform I built for the cards to rest on on the bottom of the case needs some adjustment. The card near the front doesn't rest on the bar, while the middle card does. I'll post some pics later, when my phone is done uploading a bunch of stuff.
