Did you have any issues with the front fan rubbing on the front of the case making noise?

If you’re talking about the GPU in the front, no that’s not a problem. If you’re referring to the massive fan (200mm I think) that’s on the front of the case then no. But that’s because it’s not working. I plugged it’s header onto the motherboard but the fan won’t come on. Haven’t looked into it yet, but I think it needs more power.

Anyone thoroughly annoyed by the TTS, and the fact that they imply they are BBC via the watermark and their profile icon?
It's dreadful. Couldn't listen to more than a few seconds -- I'd rather read the article than listen to that.

I have read a couple of articles about this Kodak Coin. I find the whole thing completely bizarre. It's like Kodak, who famously missed the boat on a number of occasions, are determined not to make the same mistake again, even if 'the next big thing' bears no relationship to their industry.

No, Mainstream Media, That Country Did Not Ban Bitcoin. Again.
Link: https://news.bitcoin.com/no-mainstream-media-that-country-did-not-ban-bitcoin-again/

Headlines roared late last night in the western hemisphere, morning in the east, as mainstream media outlets breathlessly ran with an initial report from a legacy wire service: the Republic of South Korea is to ban cryptocurrency. The truth is more subtle, and it’s fast becoming an object lesson in fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD). Veterans and those new to bitcoin and crypto have clear choices as to reliable media coverage, and the South Korean “ban” is a perfect example.

Anyone see the markets massive selloff based on fake news price on bitdoin dropping fast oddly enough ripple is on the rise.

It's hard to even make out if there was a selloff at all. BTC has held a 5-week trend line since 11/30/17. We're smack in the middle of a 'rising-wedge' triangle, so if chart fundamentals hold up then we should see a break out to the upside in the last week of the month, or so.

Any idea what caused that dip in bitcoin prices i thought it was impossible to influence the price of bitcoin?.
Is the ban on cryptocurrency in South Korea real or fake news?.
Only thing i can think of is lack of buy orders maybe due to people not buying because of the holidays and they have no extra money and some people waiting for tax return money?.

News is very confusing look at real source says no, english source news says yes?

IMO, just looks like a consolidation period. You can't run parabolic, gaining 1000's of %, without correcting. I've heard that the SK news is fake but it's hard to tell. Regardless.. until "the news" breaks bitcoin down, out of the triangle... as far as I can tell, it looks like news has had little to no effect on the price.

As for the buy orders, that's going to be part-and-parcel of a consolidation period - less people are going to buy when said thing is perceived as overbought.

No idea if holidays or tax returns have much to do with it. I would imagine "tax returns" in the US/North America is a fairly small drop in the bucket compared to the types of market caps and trading volumes involved on a daily basis. I'm sure tax returns could help, but I don't think the 'lack of' tax returns is hurting, if that makes sense.

Question: why was the new rig crashing at first, but now is really stable?

Started actual mining with it the other night. It couldn't go an hour without crashing, some kind of sudden crash / reboot, definitely hardware related best I could tell.

I moved it to my workbench, took the side panels and top panel off and disconnected all the GPUs from the motherboard. I also disconnected the massive 200mm front case fan. It had been plugged into motherboard but never spun up. I think it needs dedicated power. Connected monitor to on board video and ran a few stress tests for a while. It all seemed just fine. Puzzled.

So I moved it back to the outlet where I could run it full power for mining. It's been stable for at least 24 hours now. I have not replaced the top or side panels, so it's running like an open air rig. I also did not reconnect the massive 200mm fan in the front.

I'm trying to figure out what resolved it. Possibilities:

  • big fan trying to start caused crash
  • disconnecting the GPU riser adapters from mobo and reinserting
  • everything is running cooler, better air flow with all the panels removed
Also, the GPU that sits on the shelf with the mobo I thought was going to need to be RMA'd. The onboard fan seemed to have a bur on it. It would make noise when it spun up, fan didn't spin freely. With it powered off and manually spinning the fan I could feel something catching. Now that fan is running continuously and I hear no noise.

New video - wondering what coin to buy (this will be my first purchase)

I think ripple is going to overtake bitcoin why the technology behind it the practical application of banks using ripplenet to make across the boarder transactions which are already being done by american express.

Many banks including RBC and CIBC are also using this technology as well as over 100 financial institutions and the worlds 6th largest banks there is over 96 million USD worth of bank money backing the project.

Good luck with the new Youtube channel @goldmercury :)

I think Ripple will continue to rise in the short-term. I don't know how long that short-term will be though ... a few years maybe?

The problem with Ripple is that it's not a true cryptocurrency, at least not in the decentralised sense. It has a close association with the banks, enabling them to control the supply and manipulate the price, which kind of misses the point of cryptocurrencies entirely. There is of course a lot of hype and ignorance surrounding cryptocurrency investments right now so I expect such institutionally controlled cryptocurrencies will continue to benefit from that for some time.

However, in the long-term, as awareness of cryptocurrencies grows, I think Ripple's popularity amongst cryptocurrency investors will diminish, even if it remains popular with the banks. In fact I think we'll see not just a move away from institutionally controlled cryptocurrencies in the long-term, but a move towards even greater privacy and anonymity and an increase in popularity of cryptocurrencies such as Deep Onion. As cryptocurrencies move into the mainstream and become more popular, governments will attempt to control them by introducing tighter regulations and restrictions on their users. One thing we've learned from file-sharing history is that attempts by governments to change or 'attack' the internet ultimately makes it stronger by leading to the evolution of networks that are control-resistant.

Question: why was the new rig crashing at first, but now is really stable?

I would take a closer look at the risers, in particular the USB connectors and the small PCIe adaptor PCBs. I've had a few rigs that were intermittently unstable like that, presumably as a result of brief connectivity issues caused by slight movement in one of the riser connections. A little glue from a hot-melt glue gun worked well for me.

Thanks. I'm not going to mess with it now, it's been running (knocks wood) without issue for almost 2 days.

Wow bitcoin has really dropped in price who really controls the price of bitcoin because every time fake news talks about banning the price drops, if this is the case fake news controls price of bitcoin.
Step 1: Sell all cryptos.
Step 2: Spread the FUD
Step 3: wait for the dip, buying back!
Step 4: wait for recovery, repeat step 1
