Just finished a N&P for a client with an Lenovo laptop.
Has Windows 7 (up to date) and Office 2013 Pro.
She has an issue that when in Excel or Word, typing causes the cursor to jump about on the screen,
putting random numbers and letters in cells and documents.
Had no issues before N&P.
This is a new install, (Monday 15th Aug 2016) and has AV installed but I ran a scan anyway, with nothing found.
She has tried 3 different mice. Using the "touchpad" does the same thing. But as it happens when typing so its not a mousing issue.
Have removed/reinstalled mouse, keyboard and HID drivers etc. Downloaded and installed the correct drivers from Lenovo website. My Google Fu seems to be weak as well, tried a few "fixes" but didn't help!
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but nothing has worked so far. Everything was working correctly before he N & P
Tempted to N&P again to see if any different.

You are saying that as she is typing, the mouse cursor is creating characters in the blocks of the document that the cursor lands on (or in)?

You might try removing the keyboard and inspect. Lenovo W/T/P series are relatively easy to work on and the tech documents are right on the Lenovo web site.

I saw an XP machine do this once but it was so long ago I don't remember the fix. I got nothing else. Good luck.

Since it doesn't appear that the touch pad is causing this go to the CP/mouse/pointer options and uncheck the hide pointer while typing option.

It seems that one of the keys on the keyboard was stuck down intermittently! Sticky crud underneath the Windows, Left ALT, left end of the Spacebar, V C X and Z keys was holding the key/keys down for several seconds until
the "spring" pushed it back up. Client said there were no issues before she dropped it off. This crud was not put there by me! Maybe I wasn't tapping the keys as hard as she was/did? I didn't notice any problems when working on it.
To cut a long story short, cleaned and working fine now.
Thanks for all your suggestions.

It's been known to happen. Especially after a servicing where the laptop is rotated, flipped over, and generally handled a lot more than possibly the customer would. Crud can become dislodged and end up under a key.

Most Lenovo keyboards are ridiculously easy to remove too.

Glad you found it.

ThinkPads have great keyboards that are very difficult for grime to get into them. But not all Lenovo's are ThinkPads.
