Display issue in Lenovo X1 Carbon
Display non touch. Native resolution 2560x1440 on ci7 8GB 256GB SSD.

When I wake the laptop from sleep/power on/restart it keeps happening for around 5 -10 mins then screen goes to normal.
Sometimes screen stays dark but when I move the screen to and fro at different angles at some point display starts working.

Though on external display it works fine.

Now I would like to ask if any one who has the Idea that?
1. Is it a BAD/loose connection between display cable & mother board or between cable and back side of LCD panel?

2. Is it a bad cable itself?

3. Is it an issue of faulty LCD panel? or

4. Is it a bad motherboard?

Please watch the video for exact issue.

Try reset the Bios default.

Then install the latest mobo chipset driver, reboot and install the new video card driver again.
When have a chance, take the RAM off the mobo, clean with a paper rubber.
These are the least costly tries.

Seems that there could be some ribbon cable fault or inverter issue as well.

Hope this helps.

This is very unlikely to be a software (i.e. driver) issue. My first thought, given what you've described, is that it's a bad screen - specifically that the controller board on the screen is faulty. However, without clearer symptoms OR spare parts to test with it won't be possible to definitively diagnose the problem. Also, since the problem is intermittent even with spare parts its not going to be easy.

For the sake of completeness do as the previous poster suggested and replace the chipset and graphics card drivers. I sincerely doubt that this will make any difference. Disassemble the display and check the ribbon cable for loose connection or defects. At this point, if nothing shows up my next thing would be to replace the screen. Many laptops will work with other screens, even if they're not the exact match or even if they're not the right size so you may be able to use some existing spares that you have to test. Not being familiar with the X1 Carbon I can't say for sure. I'd try to find specific info about the model from another user here or from a Lenovo forum (if there's such a thing). If the screen does not resolve the issue, then replace the cable.

Unfortunately, nothing above is guaranteed to solve the problem.

We have recently had issues with an X1 Carbon screen. The unit was under warranty so we shipped it in to Lenovo (3 times for the same issue). Lenovo "fixed" the issue each time, but the fix only lasted temporarily. The last time we decided to skip the warranty and look into it ourselves. Turned out to be a loose connection on the LCD cable (on the back of the screen, not on the MB). It was obvious that Lenovo had re-seated this cable each time we shipped it in, but the adhesive on the tape used to secure it was no longer adhering very well. We added a little adhesive of our own and the problem has remained resolved.

Thats always been an LCD cable or LCD itself in my experience. That fact that it changes when you rotate makes me lean towards the cable as primary suspect.
