EASY way for customer to send you their PC info?

Hi all -

I do a bit of remote support, but to make things easier, many times I like to have a customers PC information (hardware/software) ahead of time to take a quick look at. Currently I have them run the Kaspersky GSI tool and send me the link, but even this is too confusing sometimes.

Is anyone aware of a simple easy tool, like a single .exe or a web page that could be configured that the user could just run and it would email or ftp me the system info?

I know I could put something together with AutoIT, etc, but wanted to see if others already are using something that works well.

Thanks!

You don't really specify what info you're looking for so it's harder to answer.

http://thismachine.info/
There was one other site that I have used in the past but I can't remember it's URL right now. It gave a lot more info and had a spot where that info could be emailed to the tech.

You could definitely do it with AutoIt but I had limited success in having it email info out. AVs would get in the way regularly.

Found it: http://supportdetails.com

Thanks Xander, unfortunately I'm looking for more info, the usual suspects, free hard drive space, processor type, installed RAM, etc...basically looking for the output from SIW for example or what GSI provides, but in an easier way for the client to do, i.e. download exe, run it and it automatically collects the data and emails it to me.

have a look at scancircle: scancircle.com/en
With the partner program it will also email you a report.

If you're using instant housecall, when you run the Auto PC Repair (D7) it shows that info along the top.

Shoot of a trial. Works wonders for me.

OK, I think most people aren't getting what I'm going after...

Most users are clueless...yes, I could remote into their PC and gather this info, but it defeats the purpose...I'm wasting my time again...

Idea is:

1. They go to website, click on file and run it AND that's it...it sends me an email with all their PC info. i.e. I don't have to be involved AT ALL....

As I said I do this already using a GSI report, but even that's too much for some really clueless users. So I was looking to see if anyone had a better solution.

Your best bet will likely be AutoIt then. It does have a buttload of info gathering features but, like I said, the only problem I've had is the outgoing mail getting intercepted.

Do you use an RMM tool? They have detailed info once you run their agent on a computer, you can see any/all detail you'll ever need. Kept right in your portal.

@inlinetech that is exactly what scancircle does.
Unfortunately I cannot post links yet, so in my last post you have to add www to the front.
Like www scancircle.com/en
So you send your customer to your webpage with the scan button.
You can assign some number to the scan so you indentify the client.
You'll get an email with tons of info: general pc info, hardware, software and running processes.
It looks to me exactly what you asked for.
We use it a lot over here and customers like it a lot (and we also of course).

Actually, ScanCircle looks pretty good. While the customer should be able to email your the report's URL (but I've had customers who don't know how to copy/paste), I don't see any kind of options for a user to email that report to someone from the site itself.

@Xander Yes, the customer can send the link and then you can look at the results.
There is however a partner program, this way you get your own url, with logo.
My e.g. like for me hostrw.scancircle.com.
When a customer does a scan on my page then I receive an email with the results.
Now the nice thing is that you could put a scan button on your own website with some explanation that they can do a free scan.
It is also possible to send a customer number along with the scan results so that you can have the results connected automatically to your customer in your software.

Scroll down on the scancircle page in the grey area under ScanCircle you'll find Partner Program with more details.
I know the scancircle owner personally and if you need more help I can you in touch with him.

Interesting service but doesn't merit the €240/yr ($354.41CAD) for the rare time I would need this.

Edit: That's twice what I paid for the first year of my remote support software itself (and 7x what I'll pay this year) and all this does is generate a report.

There are batch files that exist that can run msinfo32 and email you the results. We use it here at work.
