I cannot find the driver for this stupid system can any help please, went to hp page downloaded driver Nvidia Ethernet Controller. Installed and throws up "your system does not meet the requirements for this update Error [9096]

Now it is the driver as system is Win7 Home Premium x64 and thats the only network controller there. Have already installed the chipset with no issues.

Hardware ID is : PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_2AB6103C&REV_06

I so hate HP systems.

thanks.

Nevermind- sorry just as I post I found correct driver, sorry - still cant stand HP though

Have you tried 3DP Net?

"3DP Net has the ability to automatically install the right network driver for your PC even if you reinstalled Windows and cannot connect to the internet due to the absence of appropriate driver. 3DP Net will detect which network adapter is installed on your PC and automatically choose the right driver from its integrated ethernet card driver pool that enables to use the internet with breeze.

thanks gikstar, might test that in future, anyone else here used this. Just dubious on certain magical driver find apps - with no network.

3DP is my first "goto" for drivers of all kinds.

In the future if you remember the common vendor IDs

VEN_10EC = Realtek
VEN_8086 = Intel
VEN_1022 = AMD
VEN_168C + VEN_1969 = Atheros

and so on, it will make your life a lot easier.

At one time I contemplated posting a short list on the wall at work, still haven't got there yet.

Thanks all will keep that in mind. As in a hardware list anti - must build a list. It's just one of those things..sometime great point though :D
