Fillable PDF Form vs. SignNow

I would like to convert my work order/service agreement form to digital (and fill out the forms using my tablet).

I signed up for SignNow recently, and I like it, except it seems to have some bugs (at least on Android; had a service agreement that didn't save properly) and it costs around $100 a year.

The other alternative I'm looking at is a fillable PDF form; however, there are two limitations that are holding me back:

- Filled out PDF forms cannot be 'saved'; the data can't be saved within the form itself. (Maybe this is just a limitation the the Adobe Reader app, or maybe my forms, created in LibreOffice, are not set up properly?) but must be 'printed'

- How legally valid would a signature, taken on a PDF form, be?

Someone just post a link for free PDF creator / modify. I've tried it and it works great.

Then combine that with goformz.com. Where it actually save your invoice/quote/ any documents generated from a PDF. It also allows and save signature. Something QuickBooks mobile doesn't offer.

I've signed documents that where fax, scan, converted to pdf, etc to lawyers and government agency. I don't see how it would differ form a signature taken from a tablet. Once you email the form or print it, how can you tell it's from a tablet and not efax or something..

I've just started using EchoSign from Adobe. Starts for cheap (Can't beat free!), and gets more expensive the more you do. Can upload PDF's, Word docs etc, then define all the fields that need data in them. Use it from PC, iPad, iPhone. Not sure about Android at this time.

I just converted all my forms to PDF with OpenOffice. I use an android app called fill and sign PDF. Let's me fill out forms fast and capture the signature. This app let's you save too. Works good so far.

Quick question, how do you sign those forms using sign PDF?

From what I understand you need a separate app to do the actual signature.

I just bought the full version of the signature libraries. Five signs a week isn't enough and offline use is a must for me. It all works great. Much better then the adobe reader. Reader was slow and crashed a lot for me.

Update:

I tried creating a PDF form in Libreoffice, and it seems to work ok; but none of the android apps I was able to find could fill the PDF properly and save a signature, in the way I wanted. Some would allow you to scribble (using a pen/pencil tool) a signature, but I'd rather have a signature box 'pop' out for the customer to sign. I'll give GoFormz a try when I have some time. Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

I'm looking for a similar product to use and I'd rather not just take a stab in the dark on one. I've looked at a few different websites and it's difficult to tell which ones will accomplish my needs. I don't mind paying for a product (that works) as long as it's reasonable.

Here's what my current work flow looks like:
  • The client fills out a basic info sheet and signs my terms of service on the back
  • I file away the original and give them a second sheet to keep that has my terms of service
  • When I complete the job, I have a sheet with a description of service on top that I tear off for them (serves as a receipt as well)
  • I keep the bottom portion that has a completion of service they sign

In order for something like this to work with my current work flow, I think I would need 3 forms: basic info form, terms of service w/ signature and a completion of service w/ signature. The first two forms could be blank and reused each time, but I would need to be able to create a new completion form for each job so that I could add things like invoice number, amount and description of service before they sign. I think having that filled out before returning the system is important.

In the near future, I plan on buying a 7-8" tablet that I plan to use for this. My current documents are Word docs that I print and I could convert them to .pdf easily enough (I use CutePDF) if need be. The catch would be that I may or may not have web access at all times, so I would need to be able to sync the information later rather than relying solely on a web page to interface. Being able to email the completed form to my client within the app (once I have web access), would be helpful. Having things like my logo and phone number show up on the form is pretty important, too.

Do you think any of these products work for me or is there something better out there?

I have a client that is looking for a solution. Basically he is a locksmith, he receives a job sheet from his customer, it could be in pdf, it might be in word, he then needs to be able to digitally sign it on his ipad and then email it/save it to his dropbox.

I, too, have clients looking for this type of thing and it might be good for us to go to as well.

Keep the ideas coming; thanks for those posted so far - I'll check them out.

Bump:

Just wondering what everybody is using so far; I tried going the SignNow route, but I couldn't figure out a way for the mobile app to work with editable fields in PDF forms...which really made filling out forms very awkward.

I also tried creating a PDF form using LibreOffice, but that didn't work as well as I'd hoped. GoFormz looks promising, but I never really got around to trying it out; might do that this week though.

Check out Landtech esign

After trying several free & paid options, I have settled (for now) on a free app on the iPad/iPhone called Landtech esign. It can open the original pdf from an email or from Dropbox. You can then insert however many signatures you want or need, along with the date or other text. You can then email it to the client (and cc yourelf) & save it back to the app (without saving over the original). I'm using it for my service agreement & for clients when they receive a purchased computer. You can find it in the iTunes store. Here is the link to the corporate site: http://www.landtechdata.com/

I just tried creating a template in HelloSign and so far it is fantastic for emailing contracts to be signed. I haven't tried it with an tablet nor have I tried it with multi-contract agreements that have duplicate fields on then like company name.
