Fujitsu WILL NOT update.

Ive got a fujitsu li2727 in at the moment that simply will not update, as far as I can tell its never been updated

ive tried:

-D7 fix win updates services - runs fine, but no joy afterwards, or after reboot
-downloading SP packs and manual install - comes back with error 80073712
-installing update readiness tool
-lots antivirus scan and boot scans - all clean now
-permisions reset
- SFC /scannow gets stuck in a 'windows needs to reboot to perform system repairs, run sfc again' same thing over and over.

I was reading that removing all pending.xml files from /winsxs may help, but there's loads and dont wanna mess laptop up.


**update, trying D7's 'in house wsus update service' to see what gives there...

Sounds like the update store is corrupt.

EDIT **after 20 mins I realised I hadnt stopped WuAuServ.....

...and that only changed error code to 80072efd, (no internet connection to updates server)

Check that Windows Update is allowed through the firewall, or even disable it to confirm the issue. I take it you can connect to the internet?

Yea, all other internet access is fine, it had 450 hits on MBAM earlier, so I suspect that it may be the after effects of an infection, but resetting everything doesnt seem to be working....ho hum

Im gonna try Avast and run a boot time scan, see if that gets anything

I try with WSUS disk and get 'internal error 0x80073712'

Failing that, I think I would then back up the hard drive and perform an in place upgrade.

i would try and reinstall the update agent thats all i can suggest to be honest!

Done both mate...no joy..scannow stuck in a reboot and run again loop.

Just to close this thread, I tried an in place upgrade and it wouldnt go ahead without sp2 installed, and seeing as nothing was installing I rang customer and they were happy with a backup with fabs4 and a reinstall, all is working great now.
