I have a friend who just bought a Samsung galaxy S22. She didn't realise till afterwards that the phone has no 3.5mm headphone jack.
She purchased a small adapter that plugs into the charge port which allows music playback - which is great - but a problem arises when she receives a call, she can hear the caller but they cant here her (obviously no microphone.)
So the question is what options are available as far as being able to use headphones to listen to music but also talk when a call is received? (Apart from the $300 Samsung earbuds)

TIA

Is she sure?

I have had this sort of setup on several devices, and the built-in microphone on the device still functioned as "the talking end of the receiver" when using earbuds.

There are definitely USB C earbud/microphone sets much like the ones that used to be included in phone boxes but that, at the time, used a 3.5 mm jack. See: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=usb+c+earbuds+with+microphone

Wireless options exist, too, from various 3rd party makers.

Would be a user issue not the phone - may be switching to Bluetooth. Disable bluetooth when not using for music - no real alternative other than reset network settings.

Thank you. She found a USB C. headphone/microphone combo in a local store similar to the ones you linked to that work perfectly for what she wants.

Sorry, I dont think I explained properly and you misunderstood.
She wants to leave the phone in her bag when out but still be able to make/receive calls.
She prefers wired over bluetooth. (personal choice).

I just wanted to chime in. I bought Samsung Buds+ before I upgraded my phone. I pretty much knew I wouldn't have a headphone jack. S21 Ultra currently. Love my Buds. Wish I had them sooner. Nice being able to pop out of my pocket and in an ear to take a call.

Yeah that would be nice, but at $299 not an option for a student on limited funds.
Why does she have an S22? Telco with a "hot deal," peer pressure, etc but mainly because her old phone is in the mud on the bottom of the Torrens.
