Freaking AWESOME! I thought Hirens was dead forever. This is version 1.0 of the UEFI bootable WinPE version of Hirens. No pirated or illegal software is included. I haven't checked it out yet (I personally use Gandalf's Windows 10 Portable), but I definitely will.

I use this program to make and maintain a FULL portable Windows 10 install that remembers settings after shutting down. You can boot into it, install a program, change the background, whatever, and then shut it down and everything is exactly the same the next time you turn it on:

The only downside is you need a FAST USB device (I use a USB solid state drive) and USB 3.0 and UEFI support in order to use it, so it's not really an option with older computers. But when a newer computer comes in (generally 2014 or newer), it's a LIFEsaver!

If I remember correctly Hiren's was "cleaned up" to only have free software, but some people would re-release Hiren's disks loaded with non-free software.

Looking at the list of software included there are still some items that need paid licenses or permission to use in a commerical setting.

People who create these disks like many users of the disks dont care. Just because you can assemble a disk like this does not make it right. (Proper licensing)

Does anyone know if you can incorporate your own tools into this? Example: I'd like to include, say, FABs amongst the available tools. It's not listed - and I don't expect it to be - amongst the pre-included tools, so could I add it in manually? I haven't used Hirens since...can't actually remember....but certainly years ago and I don't know how this new version shapes up.

I've got Fabs, WRT and heaps of others in Gandalf's PE. Just added it to the program list.
Or just run it from a USB from the PE.

thanks, but I was really asking after the new Hirens. I currently use Gandalf's myself, but it doesn't hurt to see what else is out there.
