Good/Quality reading glasses?

In the past I was buying the 3 pack "junk" readers at the local Dollar stores/etc., but they stopped carrying them. I recently purchased a 3/4 pack from ebay, and these things are really bad, the lens distortion is horrible when viewing anything other than straight ahead.

Cheap China stuff...:(

I am pretty rough on glasses - no matter how I try to take care of them, the lenses always end up getting scratched. So, I need to purchase several pair at a time.

Do you guys have any recommendations for good quality/ USA made readers that won't "break the bank"? I've been on a couple well known/name brand sites but the prices were pretty steep.

Try Amazon, and check the buyer reviews. I bought 6 pairs of reading glasses (with sprung arms) for £15 ($22)

.... And they have taken some hammering. Maybe I was just lucky in this case..... And 4 pairs haven't been touched yet.

Yeah, I buy mine by the handful. Heck, sometimes when I go back to a site months later they hand me the pair I left before. I guess I'll have a look at Amazon then. The last few times I've bought them at the local dollar shops they have been HORRIBLE. Arms falling off after a few weeks of use, nose pads bent and fall off when adjusted.

Same problem here - probably own 20 pairs - sometimes I have been known too have a pair on and another pair on my head - duh.
I buy most of mine from Walgreens. Every other week they run a special buy 1 get 1 free. They ar foster Grants and seem to be high quality. We have an optometrist client and he says he buys them also. They run from 9.99 to 29.99.

That's why I keep a pair in my shirt pocket, another in the glove box, and another in my laptop bag. LOL!!!
I always put a cheap pair in my front pant pocket in a round tube case.
I don't want them to drop out of a shirt pocket :(.
Also, in my car glove box.
The good pair travels from my office desk to my briefcase when I go on the road.

I think I have 10 pairs, all bought on readers.com $8 avg price, very decent
Some are for style and some are for just reading.

I only need the readers when I am on my laptop or my iphone. So gladly I am on a 24" monitor!!!

Another great set of glasses is from Thinoptics - I have two pair of these. They are indestructible and guaranteed for life. They also include a little case that attaches to the back of a phone, that way you will have it all the time (as long as you remember your cell phone ;)) The are only 19.99 - 24.99 - sometimes there are special deals on them. Here is the website - www.thinoptics.com

Thanks to all for chiming in on this. I thought I was the only one being rough on them. Seems like they always fall on the floor "lenses down", too. :(

Thanks for the mention of readers.com. I just went there & purchased several pair, got a 20% first time discount and free ship. Their money back/exchange guarantee is good too - 90 day return policy. :)

Cool - I'll check out that site as well.

Have any of you tried out those adjustable reading glasses? My son got me a pair for Christmas. They have a little dial on the temple that you use to adjust the lenses from something like 1.00 to 4.00, I think. These things are out of whack though, because I normally wear around a 1.75/2.00, and even on the lowest setting the adjustable ones are blurry. Maybe I got a bad pair...

I was also going to suggest Costco as a place likely to have reasonable quality and an excellent return policy if you have problems with them.

I've never actually the readers from Costco though - I've worn glasses since I was a teen and will almost certainly get bifocals with my next set. My current pair and the last few came from EyeBuyDirect; my wife has gotten some through Zenni as well but I'm not sure what the best options are these days for online ordering.

Geez.........
And I thought I was the only one to have at least 1/2 dozen of them and still can't find one when needed.
After reading this threadI don't feel so bad.
LOL

I do not see things nearby. I would like to know which type of lens suitable for me? And any website will be available?I am looking for your recommendation on places I can check out websites where I can find suitable lens glasses for me. I want to buy glasses of lenses for me very soon from the website .Please let me know if you have any similar experiences with buying lens glasses.

however, we are a forum of computer repair professionals.

we would not govr.pit advice as to the merits of say a hem engine in a Ferrari. you would visit a mechanic or garage for this.

consequently you should visit your local opticians and get their advice and also get your eyes tested.
