I'm a General IT Consultant looking to move beyond basic Data Recovery into Intermediate.
This is my current setup I'm testing before buying software.
- Remove Hard Drive
- Attach to bench PC, as USB drive.
- Sector Clone to external USB drive using "Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 Free". (Can clone around bad sectors)
- Eject client Hard Drive and begin Recover from my USB clone, onto different destination drive.
- Testing using Recuva. (Seems good for Free Software.)
This will NOT include data from completely failed drives. But, I am currently looking for a reliable, inexpensive Failed Drive Recovery Expert in the USA. (Who here can point to a reliable track record and is affordable?)
- I know that R-Studio Data Recovery is highly recommended.
Have been looking at a couple free Linux Boot Disks for data forensics recovery. They appear to have loads of recovery software, but don't known what would work best.
- Knoppix
- Backtrack
I am very interested in folder structure and file name recovery from a non partitioned drive. I do not know yet how many customers I will get from Data Recovery, so my purchase is to be under $150. What software do people recommend. What single software is the most reliable for recovery and original structure reconstruction?
