Hinge broken how to reattach.

yea there isnt even a model match on ebay...

Yeah, on the gateways you can often go by the series and compare. This is a MA7 so if you look for bases or frames you might get a match.

If you look at your model and then look at this one :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gateway-MA7...916?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item257596c85c

it might be a match. But of course it depends if its worth all the work for the money. Just be sure all the cutouts and screws holes match.

it matches but i not sure if its worth it. with the screen, hinge assembly, frame and labor that might be a bit much.

I'll check thru all the broken laptops that was given to me or I bought really cheap for parts. I think I may just have it really. I only have about 30 to 40 laptops and remember seeing a couple that looks like the one you are describing. But I won't be able to check till Monday because I'm out of state. I'll see if I can get my help to look through the pile maybe today or tomorrow if I can (if I remember where the extra key for the house is).

... and mixing up epoxy isn't "a bit much"

Personally, if I staked my business on a proper repair, I would MUCH rather replace the bottom than mess around with epoxy unless it is something that can be easily epoxyed, would stay epoxied (without re-breaking in the same spot), and wouldn't show the repair.

Personally, I would quote one (1) hour labor knowing it might take up to 1.5 hours. <== i.e. I would probably quote $95 for the labor...

Too bad there isn't a labor bluebook for computer repair times.

I meant to much money for them. its an older laptop. A costly repair is not always in the best interest of the client.

Gave them the option to fix and they are going a different way. But i will make something on the data recovery. thanks for all the help.
