How does hitman pro licencing work? Do you have to pay per incident or can you get a yearly licence for unlimited use? It's quite unclear on the website.

What do you do?

It's part of D7 but I would have thought we are bullet point 2 from their website

Who Should Use HitmanPro?
• Computer users can use the Free Scan of HitmanPro as a quick check (less than 5 minutes) to ensure that the existing anti virus program has not missed a threat.
• Help Desk and Support organizations can use the Free Scan of HitmanPro as a quick check for viruses and other malware. It can be run from USB or CD/DVD. No installation is required.
• Website owners can offer the Free Scan of HitmanPro as a service to visitors for a quick second opinion.

I don't understand that really Martyn. Obviously we come under the support organizations and qualify to scan for free without installation. To use the products full features - i.e to repair and remove malware it asks for an email address.

The only way I can see I could use the same email repeatedly is to buy an incident licence that allows this. I forgot to state that the only reason I'll be using it is for the kickstart.

For the longest time we were able to run Hitman Pro with d7 and d7II. but in the last month or so HMP does not work. It says it has expired. We have updated both d7 and d7II regularly but not fix.

Nick had it set up so you didn't have to enter any email - it was automatically activated.

We can download HMP from their website and run it. We just use a 'fake' email address e.g. sss@msn.com and it works fine.

This is a question I was just about to ask because, as you say, their website is no help whatsoever.

I find Hitman Pro quite useful but I have D7 (original flavour) and use it from there. This works initially (even used it today River Valley, so may be something wrong with your D7?) but it only gives a thirty-day trial licence. If you get the same machine back in 6 months or a year and run Hitman Pro on it again, it says the trial licence has expired and you must now buy it for it to do its job.

So which pricing option works in a 'one-man band, working residential only and not making much money so can't afford much' scenario :)

Use Martyn's 2nd bullet point. When found fix with alternative methods. I generally use this as a "Did I miss anything" tool.

HitmanPro isn't "part of" D7II. It's just run by D7II like JRT, ADWcleaner, and so on. It's just part of the toolbox. D7II doesn't give it any special licensing or anything like that.

Excuse me for incorrect terminology. HMP worked fine in d7 up until last month. We have d7II but do not use it as much as d7. We happen to like d7 better right now. When we added HMP to d7II it did the same thing.

Are you trying to use it on the same computer? Because the free install lasts for like 30 days. After that it won't work unless you pay for it. So it's a one-shot deal.

I'm pretty sure HMP works as before, whether you trigger it via D7 or normally.

I install run it, remove any instances and then uninstall. I actually used it this morning and it picked up some toolbars that malware scans did not pick up.
