How to make a backup in Win2000 Server [SOLVED]
Hello, I'm in a bit of a jam here, a regular customer called me to make a backup of his business' files stored in the server, a Windows 2000 Server. He wants them on a DVD... so I figured I'd just copy the folder he wants to backup into an external hard drive and make the DVD from a different computer.
The problem was that as soon as I started copying I got a problem about file names being too long, so my copying was stopped. I would've tried installing TeraCopy or some freeware Backup utility but I don't want to risk the integrity of the server due to an incompatible app.
Right now, I'm making a backup with Windows 2000's Backup Wizard, which will work in case of emergency, but I don't like the fact that such backup is a .bkf file and my customer will be unable to copy individual files from a DVD.
So my question is: is there a way to bypass the long file name error in Server 2000?
Is there any app that will allow me to copy the folder so it can be used in another computer? (the Server Cannot be turned off)
