I have a client that is a very small funeral home just 2 pcs and a laptop. They have an HP laser jet color 4025 printer for printing mass cards. Up until the weedend it was hooked hp 8100 elite desktop running windows 7 by usb. It has the program to print the masscards for funeral. Back when Microsoft was doing its free upgrade to windows 10 this computer upgraded automatically. It knocked the printer out. I could not get it to work then so I reverted back to 7 within a few days no problem.

Fast forward to this week I had of course forgot about the windows 10 issues of this pc. It is one of my last upgrades before the impending EOL of windows 7. I have tried everything to get this printer to work. I had deleted the drivers installed the drivers(any that would possibly work multiple times). Tried Hooking it up to the network no go. No matter the setting it would not be pingable but would be visible in the network scanner on my phone.

I am out of ideas any suggestions on how to proceed? TIA

When you put it on the network was it DHCP? Did you printer a config page to get the IP? You should be able to log into the web interface from there. Personally I prefer to use IP addresses when installing printers rather than the OEM's automagical networking stuff.

Any drivers should work, the features sheet indicates that it has built-in support for PCL5, PCL6, PS and direct PDF (aka the PDF subset of Postscript). Current universal drivers for PCL or PS are from last summer.

I just had one like this today and like @Markverhyden mentioned, grab its IP address either through its config page or network screen and enter it in the HP driver setup usually under "advanced" or manual section of the setup app.
