i was attacked by a local competitor on google reviews

If they aren't a member, then filling a complaint is pretty pointless. I mean, what is the BBB going to do? Send them a letter?

maybe, maybe not. It's just one more thing i can do to leave a paper trail behind this company.

that's why I've been sure to mention Richmond Geeks in most posts here? It helps leave a small electronic paper trail.

Wow, this is pretty crazy. Went through and flagged and said no as needed, bad situation to be in. Let us know how it all turns out, i will be paying close attention to this one.

Also, I am friends with the owner of who appears the hardest hit by this and i called him, but was busy so i will be speaking with him later tonight about it.

Well, the "Marcos" ID that left me and a few others reviews has now been removed. So that's one of my three gone. Oh, but wait, now there's a new bogus review from user Afadavid. This happened within a few hours of me talking to Richmond Geeks, Mohammad Salman about this. At that time he apologized for the rogue SEO contractor.

Looks like legal matters may be our only recourse at this point....

I'll keep you all posted how this progresses.

I filed a complaint with the BBB back in the days and I remember nothing came of it. I'm really not sure the point of it. I guess these days everyone uses Google and this is the surmounting problem. That stinks!

I have a feeling that the reason why filing a complaint with the BBB has become such a popular thing to do when dissatisfied with a company, is because people assumed it was a government driven department, and that they would have authority some form of authority over the business.

* Cause for popularity, not necessarily cause for people doing it, although I'm sure that's pretty common

Just a quick thought ---- If you are absolutely sure about the source (proof and all). Instead of just passively trying to deal with the problem. Go on the offensive.

Denial of Service attack the IP address of his Website. Bring down his email, website, etc.

Then, download an auto-dialer.. set-up an anoymous phone number (like free account from google voip), and spam his phone every 20 seconds. Let him know that you can hurt him. Perhaps he will then leave you alone.

If you dont want to take that approach, File a Slander charge in court.

This is definitely not the correct way of going about things, except for the last "court" part.

Being affected by this same person, I wouldn't resort to such tactics as they are not warranted and can get you in trouble yourself. What if Richmond Geeks decides to "hit back" at your spam campaign? I am a firm believer that everything I need to know, I learned in kindergarten. Don't hit back if someone hits you, tell the teacher (Lawyer, courts). Most kindergartens have a 3-strike rule, 3-strikes and your out! Let Richmond Geeks continue this defamation campaign after the first court ruling, I bet you their business is taken away via fines and expenditures. Courts don't like telling the same person the same thing over again.

I threw it out there for thought. The guy has complained about this for some time. He is not receiving the relief he needs.

Realistically, the offender will get bored with the tactics like a 5 year old - before the court hearing, orders, fines, etc take a persuading effect.

I am just showing other options.

Maybe it's just me, but I would probably go to the local competitor and ... convince him of the error of his, or his third-party's ways. Then I would go to the third-party, if he's local, and do the same...

But, I'm 6'3 and 300 lbs +... I've been known to intimidate people, when needed. :-)

To me, the threat of eating through a straw for a couple months gets much faster resolution than threatening to sue...

I see your point, and I am one of the affected as well (From the same person). If worse comes to worse, it isn't hard to come up with a bunch of damaging and untraceable methods of destruction... especially from people whom know a thing or two about computers.

my lips.... are sealed.

agreed, it's one thing for two restaurants to pick a fight, but for one geek to pick a fight with another computer repair professional (not to mention a whole bunch of us) its not too smart.

It's SUCH an obvious spam attack it's sad.

Google surely have a responsibility to their customers (the firms who they allow reviews for and the people looking to find a good firm) to provide truthful information and stop libellous claims? What are they doing about it?

Ehh... Full disclosure here: I don't think I've ever paid Google a dime, so calling them customers isn't really accurate. Sure, my internet usage makes them money, but the relationship between us and google/radio/tv stations is different than it is between us and say a retail store or restaurant.

I have paid Google loads of money ($1000's), so they should take a proactive approach!

I've selected "No" for all of them, in case it helps any. Though, reading through here, it doesn't look like it...:(

meh, nothing.....

they probably get so much of this crap it's ridiculous. Somehow my google places page is no longer claimed by me. It's not claimed by anyone at the moment. I've tried re-claiming it and have them call the phone number listed (my business number) but for some reason it fails on their end. I've submitted the claim via post card pin, but it's not here yet. Once it is, i'll be able to at least post a reply to the comments left by Richmond Geeks.

Hmm power without accountability is never a good thing.

People hate Microsoft now. I think they're gonna hate Google a whole lot more.
