iMac Fan Issue After SSD Install

So I recently installed a SSD into my mothers iMac as a birthday present.
Now she is complaining that the fan is making a loud sound after she uses it for a little bit
She doesnt use it much because she has a Macbook Pro now but still likes to use it to look at news and other stuff throughout the day.
I have checked the fan and cleaned it out with no luck, but the fan doesnt seem that dirty and its only about 5 years old and has minimal use.
My next step is to order and replace the fan.
Any suggestions on something else to do before replacing? Wondering if its just because the airflow is different now that it has a ssd instead of a 3.5 hdd

Sounds like the classic HDD sensor issue to me. What year is it?

I thought that too at first but it doesnt have a sensor plug from the old hdd or a sensor that sticks onto the hdd like the new ones

EDIT: Not sure if these work with non OWC SSDs though, might be worth shooting their support an email asking about it.

It used to be that using a program to slow down the fan, or a compatible hard drive were the only options for that. I did read something about someone shorting out those pins and that work, I think. However it does look like they have a solution now

+1 for Eririon Fan control . We use http://exirion.net/ssdfanctrl/ setup as smart Auto. Job done

+2 for SSD Fan control. Have installed it on many iMac's where i couldn't get the same temp sensor connector on the hard drive. SSD Fan control is the better of two options, because it's free, and it works!
