I knew the i9s had issues but just got a call from a customer where I just installed new Optiplex 7020 sff with 13th gen i7 last month. It was blue screening every 30 minutes or so. Went to dell support site and found this:

Industry-wide Issue with Intel Core 13th and 14th Generation i5, i7, and i9 Processors

There were 6 critical driver updates. Some just released withing the last week or so. I hope these drivers fix it.

According to Copilot...

Together, ChengMing can be interpreted as "clear brightness" or "brilliant and bright". It's a name that conveys positivity and radiance.

This is not young enough, you need a BIOS from late October or early November at the latest to have the most recent Intel Microcode update that supposedly fixes the 13th and 14th generation issues.

Note, once the damage to the CPU is done the BIOS will not safe anything, it will not fix anything, the damage is permanent and only a CPU replacement will resolve the issue.

Customer just called and said it has already BSOD 2x this morning :(. I said in my OP that it is 13th gen i7 but that was off the top of my head. After checking it is a i7-14700

Earlier today I was looking at the system event log and noticed after I applied the drivers it started crashing at exactly 09 minutes after the hour on a timer every hour. The Shadowprotect backup starts at 06 minutes after every hour. Also I run a BlueSceenView script check in N-Able that alerts me when any systems BSODs. BlueScreenView said the dump was pointing to the managed antivirus. So I turned off Bitdefender, ran a chkdsk, and did a repair install of Shadowprotect and so far it has been up for 3+ hours without crashing. 🤞

That's an excellent bit of detective work!

You may consider hitting the platform with this thing too: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/15951/intel-processor-diagnostic-tool.html

But please, only do so AFTER you're confirmed to be on the most recent main board firmware. That vCore mess in the 13/14th gen CPUs will eat cores when it shifts, and it can do so when under load OR idle.

It's not fun! But if the Intel tool says the CPU is good, for now at least... she's gold!
