Intel 8th, 9th and 10th Gen processors removed from Microsoft's Windows 11 24H2 CPU support list

@timeshifter

Here is what the source material from, Microsoft, Windows 11 version 24H2 supported Intel processors, says: "OEMs may use the following CPUs for new Windows 11 devices."

That page is intended for "from this day forward" for NEW Windows 11 devices. It's no shock that the 8th through 10th gen devices are no longer listed, as they're really no longer relevant for NEW devices.

There still exists the document, Windows 11 supported Intel processors, which lists the 8th through 10th gen devices.

Well spotted.

Agreed, but Microsoft is just as guilty for putting out something where a minor comment is centrally important. They should have included something at the end saying that all 8th generation and later Intel processors support Windows 11 and giving a link to the same page I did.

I get what they were wanting to emphasize, but they did it in such a way that it is destined to be misinterpreted. I am surprised that Tom's Hardware didn't vet this article better before publishing. They're generally a very reliable source and also know that "the fine print" always counts when reading Microsoft's announcements.

As I said, it's either mis- or disinformation. I bet they got lots of clicks (and ad revenue) due to that "mistake".
