Ok folks.. 3rd Windows 10 computer this week with this issue - no resolution yet.

Internet shows connected
Can ping websites
IE, Edge, Firefox, Chrome will not load any web sites.

I have tried
- Resetting Winsock
- Uninstall and reinstall ethernet or WiFi drivers
- Some various MS fixits

Windows trouble shooting of network connection states "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer" Upon digging deeper, Windows states "Missing Windows Socket Registry Entries"

If the troubleshooter is run at admin it states it has Fixed the issues, but the behavior continues.

Thoughts? :)

Assuming the system is clean, have you checked for and run antivirus removal tools? I consistently get weird networking issues after Norton left things behind.

Proxy? What about Safe Mode with Networking? Turn off the firewall? Look for anything unknown running in Process Monitor.

Already checked Firewall, no change. Same with Proxy, set at default, nothing added.

Ahead of me on the Safe Mode though. but it DOES work in Safe Mode. I disabled ALL start ups, went into normal, and it continues to not load websites in normal mode with all start ups disabled...

Did you see the part about exporting the reg entries from a working system and importing them on the broken one?

Anything enlightening in the Event Viewer/Admin Events?

Does the troubleshooter come up with the same error?

I suppose the next thing I'd give a shot is a new profile, as Win10 seems to screw up profiles on upgraded systems so often.

What is the network setup? It seems like a DNS error, try direct connection to router with laptop etc see if you have issue still to troubleshoot.

That's a clue. A service or driver is the reason for this. Disable anything non-Microsoft and see if you can find the culprit by turning on each service and driver a few at a time.

Have you booted a live Linux distro to check & test the ISP connection (although Safe Mode answers that question)?

I would think DNS error as well, but the working in safe mode throws me a bit, as I would now think service.

- Scanned for malware, viruses, rootkits - totally clean.
- System having same issue at their office and here, so don't think its a network router issue or related.
- Ready to disable everything else that I have not yet on start up.. Will report back.

Frustrating issue and all great suggestions so far.. Thank you.

What AV is on it? Does the AV have extra "modules" that affect any networking settings?

I have run into a couple similar to yours, and the AV was causing the issue. Reinstalled or altered the AV install (adding/removing components) and the problem went away. Something was borked with the AV causing it, although the AV didn't seem to notice. I know Avast was one of them I encountered, don't remember the other one.....

Considering it worked in safe mode, and most AV is disabled in safe mode, leads me to think you may have same issue.

When you write 'reinstall drivers' did you delete the relevant wired or wireless network card from Device Manager and right click/scan for hardware to redetect it?

I have had a couple where this fixed it after an update to Win 10

Running ESET AntiVirus. No extra modules, AV only. I already disabled it in normal mode, no change

Yes, uninstalled drivers, rescanned, reinstalled, no change. (good call though, seen this work in other similar issues like this with 10)
