[SOLVED] Internet connected, can ping, browsers do not load web sites

Have you check it with 'Autoruns'....good for picking up rogue drivers....Farbar service scanner....confirms digitally signed files for network files....Process Explorer etc?
I would also try accessing from a new user profile to see if its a profile issue..

I just disabled all autoruns (trouble shooting option) rebooted. Still no joy. So then I set it normal (appeared to be on selective) previously. Rebooted and INTERNET! I thought perhaps there was a service that was disabled that went active once set to normal. But now I am also noticing that ESET is broken, not running, can not be repaired... So not sure which way to lean now..

Going to reinstall ESET and see what happens...

I've read thru all of this and have not seen anything / anyone referring to the "hosts" file. I believe that I would look at this soon just to see if there are any entries in it which "could" be causing your issues. Who knows, it could be as simple as this?

Well that would be strange because tweaking aio should have fixed the necessary services if they were disabled. You made no other fixes prior to rebooting that may have resolved the issue? I suppose a necessary AV service disabled could stop browsing in some situations and that wouldnt be fixed by tweaking aio.

Would have broke the ping too though.

Just following up and finalizing this one. First, thank you all for all your thoughts, suggestions, and input. Awesome group as always.

Since I was trying a few things at once on this one. I believe it came down to either a start up that was required that was disabled OR an issue with ESET AntiVirus. I am curious how a standard ESET AV would have affected internet connections on all browsers though. But again, after disabling all start ups with no joy, I re-enabled them (set to auto in msconfig), which brought me back into Windows with a now not running (go figure) ESET and a now working Internet. Even though I had disabled ESET earlier, it appeared not enough.

Thanks again to everyone.
