I'm an iPhone 4S user, but have been thinking about the iPhone 5 for the extra real estate for Logmein sessions and reading ebooks. I know it isn't a big difference but was looking to hear opinions from first hand users.

Personally, I like it. The added screen space is nice, plus (to me) it is noticeably slimmer.

I had the hardest time getting my hands on one though..

Not trying to create an Apple-vs-Anything fight here, but if screen size is an important issue (and it usually IS for us tech support types), you might consider iphone alternatives.

I currently use the Galaxy S3 which has a fantastic screen for remote support (logmein), browsing, and pretty much anything where bigger is better screen-wise.

I also support many users with iphone 4's and now 5's. Comparing them side by side usually gives the iphone folks screen envy at a minimum.

Again, please note - I'm not looking to revive any battles here, just making an observation on one area where it seems to me the GS3 clearly excels. And if that area is as important to others as it is to me, they might want to at least consider it.

I have the iPhone 5, and I love it. But if you're looking to do remote access and ebooks, you may want to consider a tablet. The iPad, Nexus 7 etc would all be better alternatives in my opinion.

That's so funny, I feel the same way when talking about anything Apple. You have to tiptoe around the issue of comparing products because there are a lot of people that instantly get defensive. I had someone ask me about Macbooks vs PC Laptops and I basically said that the hardware was the same as any other premium laptop, so base it more on what OS and software they prefer and want to use. I said they were a little overpriced for what you get hardware wise. A woman standing next to us interrupted and exclaimed very passionately, 'I'm on Mac and it's so much better. It's about the lifestyle!" I didn't know how to respond :D To me they're all tools, you choose the best tool to get the job done.

Thanks for the replies.

1) I already have an iPad 1, but I find myself with my phone alot more than the iPad. (I am considering the new iPad).

2) I have a Nook that I rooted, but I found Android to be more of a tweakers type of OS. After spending 3 years with a PocketPC era phone, with custom roms, etc when I moved to an iPhone I just liked that it worked well out of the box. I guess at my age (42) and what I do for a living (fix tech problems) I dont want to have a phone where I am constantly fooling around with it. (This may no longer be the case with Android, IDK) I have been a tinkerer with computers since a Timex Sinclair 1000.

3) I guess if I could have one device thats always with me that could do everything pretty good, I'd be happy. So far the 4S, is excellent, except the screen is a little small. The 5 didnt really amaze me, but I figured I'd ask.

I went from a 4 to 5 and honestly haven't noticed the screen space. I actually forgot it was bigger until I just read this (but maybe I'm just used to it now) :) So, if you are thinking about upgrading just for the size difference, I'd say don't do it. That said, it IS much faster (than a 4 at least), feels smaller and lighter, fits better in hand. But again, if considering upgrade just for the screen size, I'd say stick with 4s.

If you want the bigger screen, go with the Galaxy S or even the Note. You could always get a 7 inch tablet which is pretty easy to carry around.
