iPhone 6 Prototype on ebay - cheep!

Oddly random: " ***Free Shipping is only included if price exceeds $4,000.*** "

Not that it matters now, but I wonder how she/he came up with that number? What does it cost to ship something like an iphone? $10? $15 with insurance? Nope - gotta have four grand to cover that.

I wonder if someone at Apple is the high bidder. If the listing is legit, wouldn't they want it back?

It's at 94 grand currently. What is so special about prototype device?

Only of interest to a collector or speculator.

It's hard to explain collectors or understand their motivation or mindset. They just want certain things and are willing to pay to have them.

Goes for paintings, cars, coins, whatever. The value is determined by how much a collector is willing to spend, not the use or practicality.

I'd peg the value for a prototype iPhone 6 at $2k max. A prototype for the original iPhone would certainly be worthy of a high price, but even then I'd say $20k max.

Would Apple really let a prototype out of it's sight?

I did however hear that you can occasionally pick them up in a bar for nothing (if you know the right one to go to) ;)

The winner is going to be quite unhappy when they find out that the prototype they spent over 100k on isn't worth a damn in 10 years compared to what they spent.

Also why can't I ever score like this?
100,100.... a good investment would be to outbid whatever is needed and then come out at a quarter mill start bid. I bet it would get news coverage and some idiot would get it up to 500,00. Now that's thinking outside the box. There's clearly a demand. I bet this gets close to 200 or a little above. Most of the bidding happens on the last hour.

Now it says the bid ended because the item is no longer available. What does that mean?
Maybe it went through "bendgate"? :)

I bet it got bought out by a big Corp for big money.... or he got threatened

Edit: ... but going back in thread I lost the first bet :)
