Is Malwarebytes Techbench worth it?

So I've been looking at malwarebytes techbench today and it looks like a really good deal, but there isn't a whole lot of posts about it on the forums.(12 I believe)

It looks like for $349 US dollars to get a Portable Malware Scanner to use in the field and be in compliance with licensing to test and clean client machines. On top of that, I get 25 licenses to resell and 5 to use for my business.

I'm having a hard time seeing a downside to it and why more people aren't suggesting it more, because selling less than 10 pays for itself at retail or you could sell them at half of retail and still be ahead. Plus the 5 not for resell licenses alone would cost me about $200 if I had to buy them separately.

Am I missing something about this program?

Questions
1) Are the resell licenses able to be used for business clients or only personal use clients?

2) Do the License expire if not activated within the year or do they roll over to the next?

3) Is it 25 resell licenses every year?

The consumer version can be used in businesses with 10 or less computers.
3) Is it 25 resell licenses every year?
No, That is an introductory offer.
) Do the License expire if not activated within the year or do they roll over to the next?
I do not belive so. They activate at first activation for the subscription duration.
I will let @Alex Smith comment more.

Side note, Not many posts here for a variety of reasons. Many here already Emisoft users and many already offer the AV choice of their prefered MSP provider. There are those here who still scan with it as a just a part of the malware removal process but prefer to sell the solution that they already use.

^ This right here. And I'm in that ballpark as well. I cannot justify $349 for anything portable. With my offerings and EAM ETK and UVK, I'm good.
That and malware work is way down anymore. It's mostly browser infections. The few that do get in tend to be ransomware infections and that is an automatic nuke and pave in my book.

We bought it and use it. The 25 free licenses made it a no-brainer. We sell them to residential customers. For commercial clients, we're pushing MBEP.

Thanks for the all the info,
currently, I'm just getting started and it may still be a few more months to get some momentum going and get a steady stream of customers, I'm thinking now it may be a little early to signup for a product like this.
Are there other options to resell without as much initial investment?
How much do licenses cost in the basic free tear of techbench or is there a better route to go when I only need one at a time?

I'm trying to find something to sell a customer and make a small profit on and find a decent tool to use and not violate licensing, In the past I've always liked malwarebytes, but for now, I'm not sure it's worth the cost at this point

tool to clean with for now until I get more customers
Problem is I have 100's of clients over the last 16 years and since Windows 10 came out I have seen only 4 infected computers and all were Win 7 when I got them in. The fewer people use their computers the fewer problems you will see. Many people are not doing the risky things like downloading copyrighted stuff anymore cause they can stream (sometimes legal and sometimes not) just about anything now. People are using better browsers now as well. Windows 10 has AV included with it and it is not that bad.

Around here the only people using computers are the ones who can't or won't use a smart phone to get by. Usually, the older crowd, businesses, and students when they need to type up class work.

And all of the above is based on my experience as a break/fix service provider.

20-25% Margins (based on volume) assuming you sell them at full retail.

I could go on but we need to move this to TEO to discuss more. @Kraken

@swhite if you need additional pricing, as @Porthos mentions here, I would start a fresh thread in the separate aspect of our forum when you are a member for a few more days.

Jerry, this thread is ok here for the time being. Thanks for the tag though :)

As @Porthos said, virus' and malware in general are few and far between - at least here. I saw this decrease in break/x coming three years ago which is why I moved to MSP. I made more in my first year of MSP than I did the previous 2 years combined with the break/x model.

I'll also note that if you attend some of the conferences that Malwarebytes presents at (e.g. ITOCompass a couple months ago and probably Techcon Unplugged this fall) there may be a discount code available.

I also highly recommend Episode 214 of the Podnutz Pro podcast which dropped this week and is about Malwarebytes. There might be something similar there or in the show notes.....

Back in the day when lifetime licenses were $8 when you bought in packs of 10....I sold virus removals for $99 and upsold a year of free virus removals for $69 and it included the lifetime license. I can't even tell you how much money we made off that. I still get calls from clients every now and then who want their keys and I'm glad I kept that information.

I think you can make money off it for sure.
