Is this motherboard DDR3 or DDR2?

I need a replacement board for a customers computer, I have had it on the bench for a few days now and not been able to source a new board. I have just bought this in haste, as it is the same model number but the board I have has four DDR3 slots. This only one has two.

The buyer states it is DDR3, but most with just two slots are all DDR2. Also mine says AM3 on the board but AM2 on the ZIF socket. I assumed this was a mistake and this is in fact AM3 but I am right in thinking this board is actually a DDR2/AM2 board and thus no use to me? Even though it is the same motherboard number?

I can see it will physically fit in the case, the IO ports are identical. The processor is an AMD X2 215 which I believe has both DDR2 and DDR3 controllers.

If this board is actually a DDR2 even though it is a private buy it now auction I assume I can tell the customer I want to cancel because it is not as described? The problem I have is so many boards with the same DA061 078L description seem to be very different. Even if I can get it to activate with DDR2 RAM, it has 4GB of RAM which would be very expensive buy as DDR2 and the system is also downgraded.

Looking at the spaces it really does like a DDR2 board :(.

Pay attention to any code after the DA061/087L, some say EuP, some say other things.

Is there a 48.xxxxx code as well on youirs, does it match or come close to the other ?

After the DAO61 078L AM3 EuP it says
08166-2M 48.3c401

Looking at it again I am pretty sure the one I bought is DDR2 because the distance between the two bridge gaps is bigger in DDR3.

The only bright side is that the original RAM was actually 3GB (1 X 2, 1 X1) so buying DDR2 won't cost as much as I thought. So mine does say EuP.

DDR2 and DDR3 have different physical layouts. You can tell by looking at the slots. The notch is located in a different location.

DDR2 slots the notchs are almost midway. DDR3 notches are closer to pin 1.

Thanks I know that, I just can't quite see from the photograph of the board that I bought that it is DDR2 or DDR3. I am pretty sure the on the one I bought the notch is more in the middle, hence my question and me thinking it is DDR2. Really I just wanted confirmation of something I already know so I can ask this guy not to post out the board and give me a full refund as he described it wrongly but before I do that i want to be sure it is DDR2.

One is a DA061/087 the other is a DA061/078 not the same boards.

:(:(:( bugger. I feel very stupid now :(.

However he does say it is DDR3, is it clear from his picture that it is in fact DDR2 and he has described it wrong? If so I think I am within my rights to ask for a refund has he has described it wrong.

Don't beat yourself up. Saturday I bought the wrong keyboard for a customer because I was in a rush. It came in yesterday and I realized it just as I was lowering into the keyboard bay. So that's going in the closet, I paid extra for shipping too !! :p

I have asked the guy to give me a refund anyway on the count that this is a DDR2 board and he is selling as a DDR3. If he refuses I will take up with ebay as in the UK even on a private sale an item has to be exactly as described.
