Just make sure you get the correct wattage for the charger. There might be several (3rd party) that do not have the correct wattage. If you buy an charger that gives 45 watts and your laptop needs 90w then its a problem. Going higher is always the safest bet. The laptop will adjust for the larger voltage accordingly

I don't recommend anyone get 3rd party chargers - OEM you can trust.

I sent them a link to eBay for a very nice, used OEM charger (same exact model as his) and it's only $13 total.

Im thinking my 14v is wrong then. I know its a data pin so it might be like 1.5 to up to 5v.

I just measured the center pin of 2 HP's at about 17.9v and 18.5v. I don't have a Dell here to test at the moment.
