Trying to reset the tablet as the end user with dementia has forgotten the password. the guardians have no idea about anything related to the account.
Went through the process of resetting to factory default.
After restart and re-initialising can't go ahead until connected to internet.
Then it's still asking for the initial password or email/phone related to the initial account.
Any smarter way to get around this please?

RCA tablets are the same way. I can give it a new email address and/or phone number and it verifies via text but still won't let me in, after completely resetting.

This is the new security standard

Yep. Which means we really need to be hammering home the point that you must know your login credentials, period, end of sentence, with far more vigor and sincerity than we might have been doing in the past.

I've been making this 100% clear to every client for some years now, and I use the analogy of keys (or the fobs that allow you to start the vehicle) for your car, house, safe deposit box, etc. For many of these even if you lose them, there *may* be ways, all highly inconvenient and expensive, to get around it if you can prove ownership. But for some, with computers being the most obvious, there is none. You lose your keys and you are done. That's by design, not accident, either.
