Levono X1 Carbon Gen9 cannot charge through original power port

Client said It used to work when it was riddled around I tried cleaning contacts inside charger jack did no good, my phone has same problem would work for a short time after cleaning.
it looks like port needs replacing just wondering if there is a fuse or anything inside and if it's a standard part being USB C

Repairing USB-C ports can be a real challenge, as you can see in this video. The best you could hope for without having the port changed, is to invert the plug and see if the other side works. Are both ports bad?

So use the other USB-C port. If you need more than one USB-C port use a USB-C hub/dock that supports power delivery to the laptop.

Or if not caused by user damage, it might be under warranty.

its dead even when wiggled so it probably a secondary issue
USB C is a specialized repair.
I will give it back and let him decide to send it in for repair
I checked Marketplace Canada they go for about $800 that model used so might be worth spending $200

Wait till you find out the cost of replacement motherboard for that unit. I've got one somewhere in my junkpile - Same basic problem, new motherboard was $750 last time I checked. Yikes.

Which, to me, makes a machine in that condition "uneconomical to repair" when a brand new replacement is not even $100 more expensive. By the time you add in labor time, it would be way more costly to fix than to replace.

I charge $250 (CAD)+parts to repair motherboard so perhaps you can find someone local who does motherboard repairs. Still cheaper than buying new. Northridgefix.com or @gadgetfixup, perhaps?

The rule of thumb if it works by wiggling connection then repair is 100% since mine is dead possible another chip in MB
In the EU they made Apple and others standardize to this, but in a laptop at least it was a bad choice since it has 2 voltages and extra circuitry

Not sure I understand this. USB-C ports are notoriously bad at failing because the plastic plug inside the port is not securely attached to the port's metal shell, causing the contacts to rip from the motherboard when the charger cable is wiggled or pushed, sometimes taking motherboard traces with them.

Sometimes, you can wiggle the charger plug, and hence the plastic plug inside the port shell and it will restore contact between the contacts and sometimes you can't. I wouldn't assume either means anything about repairability. You need to look at the connections under a microscope as you wiggle the USB cable to see if the contacts move with respect to the motherboard pads to which the connector pins are soldered. You can also gently push the pins with sharp-pointed tweezers to see if they move when they shouldn't.

Resoldering the pins and repairing ripped traces is no picnic, and sometimes not even possible, but I wouldn't give up without even trying.

I've seen lots of bad designs in non Type C AC ports over the years, from tiny pinhead adapters that break easily to HP/Dell chargers that have a center pin sense wire that can go bad (also Lenovo).

Toshiba were well known for a plastic piece that would hold the charge port in place breaking and the port would fall deeper inside the case.

Basically, don't underestimate the ability for any design to be poorly done.
