Looking for an Android app to share technotes

Over the years, I have collected hundreds of tech notes on a wide variety of topics (e.g. default PST location in all the versions of Outlook, various registry hacks, various repair procedures, BSOD summaries, email settings for all of the local ISPs, etc.). In the old days, I used Outlook tasks to hold these notes, and synced them to my phone. When I moved to an Android phone, I laboriously transcribed them as Google tasks. This lets me share the notes among several phones the same way we share the group calendar.

Unfortunately, the maintenance of this is getting to be more of a headache, and the PC interface to Google tasks is horrible. It gets so little attention from Google that I wouldn't be surprised to see it disappear suddenly one day.

I use Evernote for other things, but don't see it as an obvious solution to this problem (although the PC interface is much better). I need good organization and searching capabilities, plus easy entry of new items in the field.

So I'm looking for another solution to create/share/sync technotes among several Android phones. What are other mobile folks using to solve this problem?

Why doesn't Evernote work for this? Seems like that's exactly what it's designed for.

I have many tech notes in Evernote. Immediately searchable by any word in the note and easily browsable when I can't remember exactly what I should be searching for. Sortable, categorizable, useful.

When I stumble on an interesting tech tip (often from right here on Technibble) I immediately "clip it" to Evernote. Seconds later that same info is on my phone.

If I want, I can share notes and notebooks with other Evernote users. So if I had another tech working for me, I envision sharing notebooks with customer details and tech tips quickly updating between me and my tech.

Just plain handy.

Evernote as well, and I use it the same way.
I have so many notes that when I search on a key word I find multiple notes on the same topic.

Use Microsofts OneNote myself...EverNote is another popular one, as mentioned above.
More so though I use Notes under Touchdown for Exchange client for my Exchange server, tie in with workstations via Outlook.

And it just got better today.

Today's Evernote for Android update added handwriting capability to the Android app. Now it's easy to add and save a quick diagram or hand written note instead of typing, and have it sync to all my devices. You can have typed text, drawings and handwriting all in the same note.

On my Samsung Note 2 I've been using the S Note app for handwritten notes, and it's OK, but the lack of syncing always made it less than great. Now that irritation is a thing of the past.

Evernote provides everything you're looking for! Maybe you could provide some more detail as to why you think it wouldn't work for you?

Seriously, try it. I use it for exactly what you are describing. Plus, it really shines on smartphones. It automatically OCRs any photos you take of documents and whatnot. When I assess a new client's site, I just snap pictures of all those little bits of paper that form the "documentation" of the average small business, as well as the model numbers of all the equipment. It gets sucked up into Evernote, where it becomes searchable and organized.

Yeah, I think Evernote is probably the solution. It's getting the damned notes out of Outlook that is more cumbersome than I'd like it to be. The Evernote KB says to use the Outlook Clipper, but that is a one-at-a-time solution, and doesn't make nice neat notes like I'm looking for.

They also link to a third party product that will do the export from Outlook to HTML, so I've downloaded that and will be testing it later today if I can.

The other solution is to import them into OneNote, which I would have to install, and then import them from OneNote into Evernote - they have an API hook for that or something.

If I can get my existing stuff INTO Evernote, then I'm sure I'll like it. We'll see.

I was looking at the differences between the personal and business offerings, as well as the difference between the free and pro versions. As long as I can share a notebook with someone in the free version, I don't see an immediate plus to go with either the pro or business versions. For those of you already using Evernote, do you agree?
