Machine labels with contact details

Hi Folks

Like many, I'm sorting out a way to put company contact details on a label that I can place on customer machines, for future reference. Having checked the forum, I can see that the Brother QL-700, Dymo 450 Duo and the Dymo Rhino 6000 monochrome thermal printers are recommended.

In your experience, what are the most durable labels to use?

Also, I'm not sure if colour may be better, so does anyone know of a durable label that can be used in a colour ink or laser printer, as Avery ones are not up to the task?

Thanks.

We have small magnet business cards we put on machines. That way customer can remove, put on fridge, whatever. We try not to add stickers to machines, they have enough already.
Just sayin :)

I hear what you're saying but this is partly a request from some of my customers. :)

One of my competitors went out of business and many of their past customers still have their contact sticker - those customers want to have that removed and mine replacing it, so they don't have to look for my business card!

I use a Dymo 450 for labels but really that is primarily for keeping track of assets while I have them in the workshop. Everything gets a label. More often than not the label under the laptop gets worn away so I really need a 'company' label as well as an asset label. It wouldn't be practical for me to put the more durable labels on all assets.

Martyn put me onto the Dymo labels, which I use for all my clients. One goes on everything, from their laptop / carrier bag, to the laptop and their charger.

I also have some return address labels, which I used to use prior to the dymo.

I think I had 2,000 printed, and they only cost around £30-40. I still have clients from years ago, bring their machines in, and see my old old labels (prior to the return address ones).

The Dymo labels will not last under a laptop if said laptop is not being used on a flat surface.
Likewise, try to put them in the coolest area as being thermal labels they will fade and discolor rapidly in heat.

We use them for asset tracking so I don't mix up people's chargers etc. Have been known to stick one in the battery compartment too.

We have used a print firm on ebay to print some colored vinyl labels for the purpose of showing our logo and contact details.
Of course we ask the client if they would like us to stick one on their computer.

It was this listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140-5cm-x...pe-/140673456448?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:1123

However...

I have been thinking of getting them made at www.discountstickerprinting.co.uk as the vinyl ones served their purpose but the print would get rubbed off if I stuck them under a laptop. Also the cutting of the labels left a lot to be desired (some looked a bit wonky).

I've placed an order with discountstickerprinting.co.uk and will get back to you when I receive them. :)

Thanks Julian.

That's likely to happen with any ink printed label (Vista Product Key? lol). The alternatives are either hot-foil printed or print and laminate, neither of which are cheap.
