Apple may not have officially acknowledged it, but smart system admins already know what's going on, read posts from yesterday afternoon about the problem and its causes. Problem related to SIP being disabled and Google Update mucking things up. And SIP must be disabled if you're running Avid, which made it seem like exclusively an Avid problem but apparently it's not.

Well it looks like a chrome update caused the issue was not Avid or Apple if you did not have chrome installed you were safe looks like google QA testers missed this issues with some macs.
