Ran into this problem this past Saturday. Turns out its quite a big problem involving McAfee's update.

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee SecurityCenter after a recent update
Environment
Affected Suites:
All McAfee suites
Affected Products:
VirusScan
Affected Operating Systems:
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows 7
Problem 1
After a recent update, customers are unable to access the Internet. Depending on your web browser, you may see errors similar to the following when you attempt to access a website.
Problem 2
Customers are unable to perform any actions in the McAfee SecurityCenter console. One of the following errors displays when you perform any operation in the McAfee SecurityCenter console such as scans and updates:
McAgent .exe –Application error -Error 0xc000009a
Script :misp://C:\Progra~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\VSJSRes.dll::ScanRunningMasthead.JS
This renders the McAfee SecurityCenter console unusable and in some cases causes mcagent.exe to crash.
Workaround 1
If you are unable to access the Internet after the recent update, perform the steps in this section. If you have Internet access, proceed to Workaround 2.
Restart your system in Safe mode with Networking:
Save your data and close all open programs.
Restart you computer. While the system is booting press and hold the F8 key until you enter the Advanced Boot menu.
NOTE: Faster systems may boot before you can press the F8 key. If your computer boots normally, restart and try again.
In the Advanced Boot menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode with Networking and then press ENTER.
When Windows finishes loading in Safe mode, open Internet Explorer and navigate to a few well know web pages.
If you are able to successfully access the Internet, continue to Workaround 2.
If you are still unable to access the Internet, follow the uninstall and reinstall steps in Workaround 3.
Workaround 2
McAfee has updated McAfee Virtual Technician (MVT) to detect and repair this issue. Perform the steps below to repair your product with MVT and update to the latest virus definition (DAT) files.
Launch your web browser and go to
http://mvt.mcafee.com.
On the Welcome screen, click Next.
NOTE: The message McAfee Virtual Technician not found means that MVT is not installed on your system.
Click Next again.
When you are prompted to save or run the file, click Run. Click Run a second time if prompted by Windows.
NOTE: Windows Vista and 7 users may be prompted to allow the application to run. Click Yes in the User Account Control dialog if prompted.
Click I Agree to begin the installation.
Make any desired changes to the scheduling options, then click Finish to complete the installation.
When the MVT installation completes, click Next to run the scan.
If MVT detects issues with your McAfee software, leave the default option AutoFix and click Next.
When the AutoFix completes, restart your computer.
Validating the solution
After rebooting your computer please confirm the following:
You are able to access Internet resources by navigating to known web pages.
You can open your McAfee Security application by double clicking on the M icon in the Windows system tray.
The status bar in McAfee Security Center is green and states that "Your computer is secure".
A manual update completes successfully:
Open McAfee SecurityCenter.
Click the Updates drawer.
Click Check for Updates.
After you have validated that you are able to access the Internet and your system is protected, perform a quick scan:
Open McAfee SecurityCenter.
Click the Real-Time Scanning drawer.
Click the Scan you PC option.
Click Run a quick scan.
If you still experience issues, continue to the next workaround.
Workaround 3
IMPORTANT: If your security products are provided by a broadband Internet Service Provider (ISP), perform the steps to remove your McAfee products, then log in to the portal for your ISP to download and install the current McAfee software.
If you are unable to resolve the issue using the above workaround, uninstall and reinstall your McAfee products.
Uninstall your McAfee consumer products using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel:
Windows Vista and 7
Close all McAfee program windows.
Click Start, Search, type Programs and Features, and click Go.
Double-click Programs and Features.
Select McAfee SecurityCenter, click Uninstall, and follow any on-screen prompts.
Windows XP
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Select McAfee SecurityCenter, click Remove, and follow any on-screen prompts.
When the uninstallation completes, restart your computer.
When your computer restarts, go to
http://home.mcafee.com and log in to download your products. For instructions on how to reinstall your McAfee products, see TS100342.
When your products are reinstalled, check the DAT version and ensure that it shows 6809 or later.
If you have issues removing the product from the Control Panel, run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool, then reinstall your products.
Download the latest version of the MCPR tool from the following location:
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
IMPORTANT: The MCPR tool is updated periodically when new McAfee updates and products are released. Always download a new copy of the MCPR tool before you use it to uninstall your product.
Navigate to the folder where you saved the file and double-click MCPR.exe.
NOTE: Windows Vista and 7 users, right-click MCPR.exe and select Run as Administrator. If you receive a User Account Control dialog, click Yes to allow the program to run.
At the McAfee Software Removal screen, click Next.
At the End User License Agreement (EULA) dialog, click Next to accept the agreement.
When prompted, type the CAPTCHA information to validate application security and click Next.
If you have Family Protection installed, type your Administrator user name and password, then click Next.
If you are unable to authenticate, follow the on-screen instructions to obtain an uninstall code.
When you receive the message CleanUp Successful, restart your computer to complete the uninstallation.
When your computer restarts, go to
http://home.mcafee.com and log in to download your products. For instructions on how to reinstall your McAfee products, see TS100342.
