My favorite shop tool

Just thought I would share one of my favorite tech shop tools. A Craftsman 1 horsepower, 3 gallon, 125 psi air compressor mounted to the bottom shelf of a hand cart. We place several computers on top at a time and wheel the patients outside for a good dusting. Moisture is not a problem in the area I live. So this little fella works great!

Very cool thing in a hot, fairly dry climate. Now if you were around Morro Bay like me, you'd be spraying a fine mist over them. :p

answers my question about relocating to morro bay and setting up shop. looks like it's in good hands.

btw your url is having problems, at least for me.

at the very least I would use a inline disposable moisture filter, like the one from harbor freight, item # 68224. Its not just the water,it is the oil too. I paint cars,so i have a very good water separator mounted on the wall, then the disposable one attached at the spray gun, better safe than sorry. :D

I don't think a water separator is what is needed at Morro Bay, it's more sunshine and less fog.
Nice setup. We have two compressors, a 5 gallon unit near one door and a 30 gallon near the other. I loadup the 30 gal into my minivan and take it to work sites when I'm doing extensive cleaning in the businesses off-hours.

After my MasterCraft compressor died I picked up a HDX (generic HomeDepot) brand compressor, thought I would save a few dollars. This thing is going back!
Way too loud
Does not hold the compressed air in the tank for more than 5 min, I checked all I could for leaks and used some vinyl take on the hose connectors and they do not leak....cant seem to find where the leak is.
over all its very cheap looking and feeling, I am going to break it before then month is out.

Looks like I will be going back to a better brand name compressor!

metro vac duster

I have a compressor but have not used it on a device since I got a metro datavac duster. Best tool I have. Every tech person who has seen me use it buys one. I am currently working on a wildfire and the amount of dirt in the laptops can be a real problem. This tool will even blow all of the dust and debris out of my computer trailer.

This ^^^^^.

One step short of a leaf blower on steroids, packed in a coffee can.

I have been using the datavac duster for a couple of years, actually keep one in the shop and another in the car. Great item, best you can do. It replaced the compressors right away. Just clean the filter on the bottom of the device every few uses and they have never given any problems.

I've almost bought a DataVac a few times. I don't really have a big garden or area to blast things with though. I imagine with my neighbours being so close, I'll probably pi$$ them off with clouds of dust and lots of noise. :(

It would be really nice to build some sort of enclosure with dust extractor to blow stuff out in. Saw a photo of one on here a while back and thought how cool an idea that is. Don't think my DIY skills are up to the task though!
