My troll call with a Fake Tech Support scammer

Wow...it has been a long time since I last used the tree command...never would have guessed it is still included with windows 7.

Well. I can't help but admire you patience.

I have taken 3 of these calls.

I'll play with them about 10 minutes TOPS, and then, after acting like a complete moron, and can't get hooked up with them I'll say something like "Don't you have to be on-line to do this?" or maybe "Does this work on a Mac?" 'cause I can't follow any of what you are saying.
...and let them hang up on me.

I've only taken one, and I went the "completely computer illiterate" route. He was stuck on getting me to press the Windows key on my keyboard, but I just couldn't find it. The funny thing was, I actually didn't have a Windows key. I was using an older mechanical keyboard, and it had no Windows key. After about ten minutes of him insisting there was a key between CTRL and ALT, and me acting confused and saying there wasn't, he told me in exasperation that I was "stupid" and needed to "get educated", and then hung up on me.

I just had another call a couple days ago, but I didn't have time to play.

A couple of years ago I led one of these calls on. They were saying the same about the Windows key and I was acting like a real noob saying there wasn't one. Only after a while I broke the news that I was on a Mac

I read a few years ago in a newspaper an article about a few people who have managed to actually scam money back from these scammers, they make it their goal to do so. I'm sure there is websites dedicated to stories of people doing just that.

I actually had one of these guys call our business number at work. I went along with him for a few before I called him out and the call ended very unpleasantly. I can't imagine how many people these guys are still able to con on a daily basis.
